Democrats Lose Big Test Vote on Health Legislation
NY Times ^ | 10/21/09 | ROBERT PEAR and DAVID M. HERSZENHORN

WASHINGTON — Democrats lost a big test vote on health care legislation on Wednesday as the Senate blocked action on a bill to increase Medicare payments to doctors at a cost of $247 billion over 10 years.

The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, needed 60 votes to proceed. He won only 47. And he could not blame Republicans. A dozen Democrats and one independent crossed party lines and voted with Republicans on the 53 to 47 roll call.

I love it when a plan comes together.

We The People Have Voiced Our Opinions . . . and Someone In Congress is Actually Listening.

Interesting list. Nice to see the weak sisters from Maine held this time. Especially interesting is that both Dem senators from Wisconsin and North Dakota also voted no.

North Dakota, I can understand, given the conservative leanings of the state. But Wisconsin?

I had to check twice to make sure I was seeing correctly. Nelson isn’t even up for election any time soon, so I really can’t believe his vote here.

It is amazing though. Both dem senators from North Dakota and both dem senators from Wisconsin also voted against this. I’m thinking we may have gotten through to some.

Nelson is my senator and I called him up last week. I wondered what his vote would be on this.

There seem to be a few more intelligent dems that may be thinking their agenda might not be as important as the will of the people.

Us Medicare Advantage seniors may have gotten their attention by threatening to cram something a lot worse up their you-know-what if they tried to cram it down our throats next election. We all were saying “Leave our Medicare and Medicare Advantage alone.” We vote.

"Don’t his just make you smile?"

It sure does me!!! After seeing these prigs head after Medicare Advantage as if it was "fraud, waste and abuse!"

Obomba's union prigs just don't like it because unions hate any employer "contracting out" to make the employer's money stretch much farther while improving the benefits for the customer!!!

My personal plan is being improved still further this year by cutting my annual deductible in half!!!

The fraud, waste and abuse is without the "Medicare Advantage" plan for Medicare coverage as it requires the typical Medicare Beneficiary to pay a substantial monthly premium for a much more limited "Medigap/Medicare Supplement" policy, plus another monthly premium for Part D for prescriptions, along with the annually increasing premium for Part B. It's a mess!!!

In other words, you can trade in your government motors chevy for a private sector Lexus with NO monthly outlay (except for Part B) that even includes a complimentary membership to a gym based on the money the government gives the private contractor!!! That's the farthest thing there is from supposed "fraud, waste and abuse!!!"

I'll never forget old Dem CONgressman Claude Pepper from FL bellerin in his quavering voice... "You keep your miserable hands off our Medicare!" The young punk Democrat POTUS needs to take his advice!!!

We just got the updated stuff on our plan today and what has been free (standard medicare deduction from Social Security) is now going to be $25/mo. including part D.

The price for medicines is going from up, and the first 5 days in the hospital is going to cost $50/day, free after that where it is no charge now.

I haven't got all the way through the book yet but it looks like everything is going up.
