The sexual assault of a female student by a group of men on the San Diego State University campus is being investigated by campus police.A dusty vacant lot became the backdrop to the horrifying assault. The victim told police that six black men attacked her. They held her down, poured liquid into her mouth, and sexually assaulted her.

Breanna Piper knows the pain this latest victim is going through. She just started up a campus organization at SDSU for sexual assault victims called Sorority Outreach and Support.

More useless PSAs spouted off by "authorities". How about the campus police getting out of those cruisers and walk a beat, in the dark places, make rounds, take notes, be unpredictable, investigate suspicious people, in other words, do something besides cruising around "lookin' goooood". I've seen too much of that, in small town jurisdictions too.

Bring back the foot patrol, the beat cop, we need more of that. Locally, I see them hanging out at a convenience store and have noted how long they're there, then talk to their supes by just dropping a hint, "Lots of crime going on at the Shell station?". I'd say an hour or two is long enough for a "break" don't you?

My son works campus security while finishing his education, and I can tell you a crime of this magnitude would NEVER, EVER, EVER, NEVER be left in the hands of the Campus Police/Security. Not even at an urban campus where there are substations for the Metropolitan Police force would a crime of this magnitude be left to the “Campus” assigned policemen.

Son has personally solved crimes, run surveillance and located miscreants of varying degrees of criminal behavior, but when the deal goes down — it's the DEA, the FBI or the local constabulary — it IS NOT, I repeat, IS NOT, the Campus Police.

Same here though I don't know why. The story is entirely plausible. And while San Diego is one of the safest big cities in America, there are some real sketchy neighborhoods surrounding the SDSU campus (I know. I attend church in one of these neighborhoods and even on Sunday morning, I increase my situational awareness greatly).

I'm a San Diego resident and I can attest that while their numbers are small, they're responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime.

I used to live there. I worked in Barrio-Logan. I was definitely in the minority. 31st and National. lol
I have been on one jury and it was in San Diego. A capital murder case. I will let you guess the race of the very guilty defendant.
