CA has already adopted a new building code which means every new house or remodel must be framed in 2x6’s instead of 2x4’s. More wood to make the house “greener”.

I guess I’m dense or something but I don’t understand how this would make houses greener unless it means less insulation being used.

6” thick insulation instead of 4” thick...

I never trust articles that require the reader to wade through several paragraphs of hyperbole and ad hominem just to get to an obscure and poorly-explained point.

Just saying.....

Gonna be a lot of homes “accidently” burn down.

The sponsors couldn't be happier with that because there is no way it will be rebuilt under current codes. Sustainable Developers will profit by the resulting housing shortage.

Since Obama’s crowd believes that insurance companies are evil, I’m sure they’re cool with that

With 2 x 6 walls the insulation can be much better. It makes heating and cooling bills very low. My DF was a contractor and never built a house with less than 2 x 6 walls. Also has a side benefit of making a wood framed house stand up to near hurricane force winds.

Please allow me to elaborate. There will be no shortage of senior citizens who, when faced with the absolute necessity of selling their homes, but cannot, will make the wrong choice. Arson detectives are very good. Standby for the imprisonment of granddads.

Lots of little smoldering “sore” spots eventually will start the big R2 blaze.

This will be a death blow to the housing and real estate market

I believe that is the idea.
