Obama: 'Cynical claims' attacking energy bill

President Barack Obama said Friday that opponents of his energy bill are disputing the evidence of global warming in a cynical ploy to undermine efforts to curb pollution and steer the nation to greener energy sources.

Obama said some opponents "make cynical claims that contradict the overwhelming scientific evidence when it comes to climate change - claims whose only purpose is to defeat or delay the change that we know is necessary."

Obama said the nation's economic future is tied to its environmental promise, describing innovation as key to righting a flagging economy, saving the globe's natural resources and ensuring U.S. competitiveness.

"I do believe a consensus is growing," Obama told his audience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Using familiar refrains from his campaign and his administration as Congress mulls its next move on the climate bill, the speech was designed as a nudge for lawmakers to act on a top priority of the president's.

"The nation that wins this competition will be the nation that leads the global economy," Obama said. "I am convinced of that."

Next week, the Senate environment committee will take up its version of a global warming bill. The legislation would cut greenhouse gases by about 80 percent by 2050 - as the president called for in his campaign - and require more domestic energy to come from renewable sources such as wind, solar and hydropower. The House passed a similar bill in June.

But with work still to be done on health care and deep divisions in Congress over the best approach to climate change, the chances the Senate will pass a climate bill by the end of the year are slim. That means U.S. negotiators are likely to not have firm targets set before 192 nations gather in Copenhagen, Denmark, to hammer out a new treaty to slow global warming.

"This should not be a partisan issue," Obama said, urging bipartisan answers on a day largely devoted to raising campaign money for fellow Democrats. "The closer we get, the harder the opposition will fight."

Evidence of global warming? What evidence? Can we have a real hearing on the validity of the “evidence”?

“disputing the evidence of global warming”

How can you dispute evidence which does not exist?

The only consensus that is growing is that we need to throw Obama's sorry Keynan ass out of the WH.

I find it hard to believe that he is a Constitutional lawyer as he claims to be. He hates the document or knows nothing about the founding of this country. Of course, there is no proof that he was a Constitutional lawyer because his records are in a cave in Pahkistaahn.

Global warming aside, Obama’s energy plan is a bet the farm plan on alternative energies that are not likely to prove viable.

We should be building nuclear plants and obtaining nuclear fuel to ensure that we have sufficient non-oil energy sources. To do otherwise, is to become almost completely dependent on the middle east.

“Cynic,” by the way, is their word for “liar”. Cynical claims are lies. Who’s impolite now?

More lies from Zero about his “climate change” bill, which is a non solution for a non problem.

Most people who don’t live under a rock know that the anthropogenic global warming theory is a crock. Even if it weren’t, this bill would be a massive economic suicide with very little benefit to the environment. On top of that, carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant. It is a needed chemical compound to support plant life, without which all of the earth would starve.

This so-called “energy and climate change” bill is about one thing, the massive grab of power for government and the massive transfer of wealth from the productive middle class to the elites in Washington. For that matter, same goes for the so-called “health care reform” bill.

The President, like all the other leftists pushing the manmade global warming Issue, is either incredibly ignorant or hopelessly corrupt. Any person that reads the claims by the Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Control (IPCC), any can do simple math, has the ability to see for himself what an absolute fraud this Anthropogenic Global Warming crusade is.

The argument is not whether the planet is getting warmer or colder, what matters is whether or not we can do anything about it. That is the real argument, and an argument the AGW proponents refuse to participate in. And since the AGW proponents won’t debate the carbon “crisis”, their justification for taxing and controlling industries around the world, we are left to using their own claims concerning man’s activities, as well as facts that are readily accessible, to determine the legitimacy of their case for regulating Carbon.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Control (IPCC) tells us that humans contribute 5% of atmospheric carbon concentrations, and Carbon Dioxide from man’s activities needs to be reduced to save the planet. For the sake of argument let’s accept their number of 5%. Since we also know that the carbon dioxide currently makes-up thirty-eight one-hundredths of one percent (.0038) of our atmosphere, it is easy to do the math to determine the outcome should we do what they tell us needs to be done. In fact, lets go farther by pretending that every man, woman, child and SUV has died and use the full 5% instead of the far smaller reduction they now expect to achieve with us all stubbornly staying alive.

By multiplying 38/100 of one percent by 5% (.0038 x .05) you get the number of .00019, or 19/1000 of 1%. Now think about that. If every person disappeared off the face of the Earth we would achieve a reduction of a colorless, odorless, harmless inert gas called Carbon Dioxide by .00019 the total of all atmospheric gases. Think about it, all this nonsense about changing our atmosphere by less than nineteen one-thousandths-of-one-percent. It’s astoundingly stupid.

Think about what they are asking us to do to change the atmosphere by far less than the number we just calculated. Think about how many jobs they are asking us to give-up for that number. Think about the freedom they are asking you to sacrifice to accomplish so little. Think about the absolute poverty they are asking the third-world to endure to achieve this insignificant statistic.

It is not only absurd, it shows you just how craven and dishonest the global left has become in their quest to lord over the rest of us rubes and peasants.

Simple math demonstrates what an outrage this fraudulent Anthropogenic Global Warming campaign is. Too bad the press can’t do simple math.
