WASHINGTON (AFP) President Barack Obama has declared swine flu a "national emergency," the White House said Saturday, as the United States reels from millions of cases of infection and over 1,000 deaths.

ANOTHER “Manufactured Crisis!”
With Bush in the White House, this would mean nothing. But with Obama in the White House, it’s clearly another power-grabbing move, intended to set aside the normal rule of law.
Not that the rule of law concerns him anyway, as he has frequently shown already. But there are limits to how often he wants to show his hand, and limits to what the media can cover up.
If you combine this with the order given two months ago to cease testing for H1N1, it becomes obvious that he is not concerned about an actual epidemic. But he is creating a crisis, a panic.
He got into the White House in large part because Paulson picked a key moment to scare people out of their wits with the financial crisis—an October surprise.
And he used the earlier Swine Flu panic to speed up the confirmation process and get Kathleen Sebelius and her cohort of abortionists and killers in charge of national health care. Also, to get the public aware of the threat that was likely to return in the fall, and to get WHO to officially declare it a “pandemic.”
Now, he’s preparing for something else. Presumably, among other things, he intends to use it to ram Government Health Care through without the usual discussion—perhaps with just a 50 vote majority.
Next Step in the master plan is Martial Law.
This will be used as a tool to restrict movement and speech.
Seasonal flu accounts for more that 1000 deaths annually IIRC. Emergencies are not announced for those, are they?
What’s so different about these deaths in real life as opposed to political life?
This is a "teachable moment" where the stakes are not so high that we can afford to use it to our advantage.
Smokin’ Joe I’m pinging your list , & some other freepers to this new article thread .
Obama declares swine flu emergency
With over 1,000 deaths, if President Bush was in office everyone would have been his fault and on the tv 24 x 7
What were the stats of October 1918?
I do now wonder how many Republicans or Conservatives these days are for extension of provisions of the PATRIOT ACT now that Obama is President.
a couple of years ago the left blamed President Bush because of a vaccine shortage. Is this shortage still Mr.Bush’s fault of is this one on Berry??
Well, it is a perfect crisis to exploit. Whatever he does with it you can be sure it will have a totalitarian flavor to it.
Not to sound dumb, but by him declaring a “national emergency,” doesn’t that mean we are now under martial law? Anyone have information regarding what is going on under this “national emergency?”
Rut roh. Here it comes. Gird your loins.
His excuse for even more power grabbing.
I just do not trust this government, alway seems to be hidden agenda
I heard of cases of the swine flu vacs causing severe problems.
It amazes me how cases like this can be reported and not a word of pre-existing medical problems or if she had the flu vac.

His is kind of like Clinton launching cruise missiles on supposed terrorist camps right right before the Impeachment Vote, to wag the dog and get everyone’s mind on something else.
Feng cautioned their model was "very simple," and noted that the pair had to make a lot of assumptions to get a result. And yet, they issued a dramatic press release anyway.
"You have to be careful about following the prediction of the study," said Feng.
