Israel says PM did not consult Obama ahead of trip because meeting on peace process unnecessary.
WASHINGTON Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's intention to visit Washington for the annual UJC General Assembly has surprised many on Capitol Hill and was apparently not coordinated with the Obama administration.
An American source told Ynet Sunday that news of the visit had been received with reserved astonishment.
The Obama administration has not yet responded to questions of whether a meeting with Netanyahu was forthcoming due to their surprise over the unscheduled visit. On the other hand, failure to invite Netanyahu to the White House may be perceived as a diplomatic crisis.
Sources in Jerusalem say Netanyahu did indeed decide to attend the GA without first consulting President Barack Obama, but that since the latter would also be present at the event the two may meet in any case.
The sources say a summit between the two leaders would be superfluous at this point in the peace process, and for this reason an official meeting has not been scheduled.
An official statement regarding Netanyahu's visit is scheduled to be published soon in the US, and an unofficial oral announcement has already been given by the Jewish Federations' leaders. The prime minister's visit is scheduled to take place on November 8-10.

Surprise, surprise! Uncle Bibi has come to visit the District of Criminals to teach the King Zero a lesson.
What a refreshing thought. An actual “grown up” in Washington DC.
Well, now you know why I'm not Bebi!
“...news of the visit had been received with reserved astonishment.”
“Reserved astonishment”? Is that like mild panic?
Poor Bambi, he’s probably going to have to cancel a vacation or look like an ass. Haha!
Reserved disgust more likely. Why would he have to ask permission to visit the U.S.?
Like Seinfeld, I hate the “pop in”.
If it’s serious business or personal business; why would one consult the Obama administration?
A courtesy note saying, “Hey, I’m dropping by” is nice, but if one is not dropping by to visit Obama then it’s totally unnecessary.
Hoping personally that Netanyahu attends the meeting on his schedule, and departs without seeing Obama.
If Bush was still Pres. I am almost positive this wouldn’t have happened.
This looks like an intentional slight by Israel to show how irrelevant Obama is.
ON THE INTERNET:
“Join President Obama at the the 2009GA”
Teach a lesson to the CLUELESS ONE no doubt!
Reserved astonishment? Is that like mild panic?
More like “holy crap”.
So many more countries now like us...! THIS IS WORKING OUT GREAT..!! hahahahahah
At least someone is giving Obamy the finger.
I agree, it does look that way.
GO BIBI! Netanyahu is a man....obummer is not.
Bummer must think the U.N. is his personal property or sumfin!
I can just imagine steam coming from Hussein Øbama’s ears!
Bibi joins Sarkozy in seeking other avenues to manage difficult issues.
GO BIBI GO
Agreed. The only POTUS brushed off in this manner.
Thanks for the links.
So, it looks like Obama will be at the same meeting.
This organization is advertising Obama’s presence, but I don’t see anything about Netanyahu.
Looks like not everyone in this organization is in agreement as to the direction this organization should take.
Anyone here know what is going on in the organization?
It would not have. this is beautiful. It shows that Bibi knows he is an enemy. He just gave the biggest finger to a US “President” that has ever been given.
Obama “shot” by the Bibi gun yet again. Good on you Bibi!
I wish Bibi were OUR president.
Good for Bibi...and good for Israel.
Why would Netanyahu announce his visit, when Zero is anti-Israel? Good for Bibi! Punked the punk!
Surprise and ANGER is my guess! Obama doesn't like to be challenged by anyone because Obama is an embarrassment especially without being able to prepare what he is going to say and/or do.
The guy is a complete and total ignoramus and it's showing daily to where even the fawning press is having trouble taking him seriously.
Of course events seem to be moving at a dizzying pace, so nobody knows what the situation will be on November 8th.
Just recall that the attack on Pearl Harbor was happening while top Japanese Diplomats were having tea in Washington, DC.
Now the ball is in O’s court. What will he do?
Is that like "jumbo shrimp"?
Because I'm sure there are plenty of people giving Obama the finger daily!
Tea? They were shredding and burning documents like crazy!
Once again, Obama shows what earned him the peace price. He doesn't even need to do anything to facilitate peace.
Oh yea, that's right, he didn't do anything to get the peace prize.
Bibi speaks volumes more about the importance of Obama
in his silence toward the White House than all of Obama’s, uh, speeches combined.
As childish and vindictive as obama is....we need to watch out for any statements or speeches. I am thinking he will just have to make some kind of snarky comment about Bibi/Israel.
At least this way Bambi couldn’t claim to have to be somewhere else at the same time...the anti-semitism in this administration is quite robust to say the least (unless of course it’s Babs Streisand or some other leftie).
The Zero needs to understand there are people in high positions in this world who will not kiss his ass. I blame the MSM for giving this guy an attitude of being the anointed one. Bibi can see through the BS and knows the current U.S. President is an empty suite.
Is this like Obama NOT visiting with Sarkozy in France?
Reserved astonishment? Is that like mild panic?
I believe author Patrick McManus (Field & Stream) refers to it as the "modified stationary panic".
Maybe two with Sarkozy of France. I saw a film of Obama in Russia and not a person shook his outreached hand. Bwahahahahahaha.
