Conservatives are sick and tired of being taken for granted, misrepresented, and talked down to by the same "elite" Republicans in Washington who hopelessly screwed everything up during the Bush years.
Everybody knows exactly whom we're talking about here. The same snobby, elitist, stuffed shirt, squishy, poll-obsessed Country Club Republicans who went to D.C., forgot who put them there, wasted the incredible opportunity they had to change this country for the better, and are now pointing the finger at everyone except themselves for their mistakes.
Here are five messages for those people:
We're not going back to the Bush years: Conservatives are sick and tired of hearing Republicans talk about conservatism to get our support and then watching them immediately move to the center once they get elected.
Stop making promises to us that you don't intend to keep. Don't tell us how fiscally conservative you are and then vote for the TARP Program. Don't talk about limited government and then support big government programs. Don't tell us you care about the rule of law and then support amnesty.
We expect you to govern the way you campaign when you need our support. If you don't do it, we're going to make sure you catch hell for it.
This country can't survive if you're as childish as the Democrats: For the last few decades, we've had an "adult" party that deals in the real world and a "children's party" that promises everyone everything for nothing. Unfortunately, the "adult party" has been acting a little too much like a 40 year old going through a mid-life crisis for the last few years. Newsflash: This country cannot remain a super power or even a great nation if the Republican Party doesn't start acting like an adult party again.
Yes, the Democrats' "something for nothing" election promises may seem appealing at times, but the country can't thrive with two parties like that -- and what good does it do anyone to be elected king of the crap pile? We don't expect the Republican Party to be ideologically perfect or to please conservatives in every way on every issue. That's not the real world. But, if the Republican Party isn't willing to draw a line in the sand over the things that have made this a great country, then the party just isn't worth a flat damn. There have to be SOME lines that can't be crossed without paying a terrible price.
Stop sabotaging our candidates: It is absolutely infuriating that Republican Party organizations talk incessantly about conservative principles, rely on conservatives for the overwhelming majority of their funding, and then turn around and sabotage conservative candidates like Doug Hoffman and Marco Rubio. Who the hell do you think you are?
We're not telling the Republican Party to endorse conservative candidates over moderate candidates or demanding that middle-of-the-road candidates be tossed from the party. What we are saying is, "Don't take our money, use it against us, and then take a haughty 'we know best' attitude." If you do, we're going to take you to the woodshed and show you why it's a bad idea.
"There will be no elite in a bankrupt America." -- Jonathan Hunter: If fiscal conservatism doesn't work any more, then America doesn't work any more because we can't live like this long term. If even the Republicans look at government as just another way to distribute as much borrowed money as they can get by with to their supporters, then this country is going to look like Argentina after the crash in twenty years. This is do or die for the future of this country and Republicans, including Republican members of Congress from blue states, need to understand that.
You're not as smart as you think you are: It must be grand to be a Congressman or senator. Your fellow citizens elect you to office. Then you go to D.C. where your staff spends all day fretting over you and telling you how wonderful you are. Everywhere you go, all you hear from consultants, your fellow members of Congress, and all the people who want things from you is that you can do no wrong. If only people understood how SMART you really are. It's like being five years old all over again except everyone shares your mother's opinion of what a brilliant genius her little man is going to turn out to be.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, Republicans just spent two straight elections getting splattered like bugs on a windshield. That happened despite the fact that their constituents were screaming at the top of their lungs about the oncoming danger. Yes, that's right; the political novices in NoWhereville, South Dakota were more accurately predicting the problems ahead than the Republican politicians and political consultants in D.C. How in the world we got to a place where so many politicians have such a shallow understanding of politics, I don't know, but Republicans in D.C. need to wake up and smell the coffee. YOU GUYS blew it in 2006 and 2008, not us.
Eat your crap sandwich Newt and McCain!
I'm not going to do it anymore!

______________
The so called Republican Party in NJ campaigned against Bret Schundler for Governor because he wasn’t part of the “establishment” also know as corrupt crooks and thieves who make tons of money being “politicians” with their good friends the democrats. We had “Republicans” calling Bret Schundler too extreme and un-electable, etc.
That betrayal is why I’m not sure I’ll vote for Christie, he’s one of “them”, not one of us.
NJ is fighting Illinois and Massachusetts for the most corrupt, crony, one party rule state in the country.
If Lonegan won the primary I’m sure they would be working to sabotage him too, we only “all pull together” when it’s one of the “establishment” candidates running as a Republican.
Newt was on Fox News last night on Greta’s show, discussing health care. I turned the TV off. I refuse to listen to him. Some use the term Faux News when speaking of Fox News. Gingrich, to me, is a Faux Republican.
Please send this to Michael Steele, Newt Gingrich and the other idiots that keep throwing their support behind people like Scovazza(?)! I am sick of them saying we have to hold our nose and elect the moderate because they are more electable and after all we need repubs. to slow down Obama. Why slow his policies down, why not stop them and change course? Because honestly they don’t want to stop them and that is disheartening. Thanks for posting this! Good article
This article speaks for me!!!
NO MORE RINOs.....even if it means the ‘Rat wins.....I don’t vote RINO.
Amen. If we build it, they will come.
[Conservatives are sick and tired of being taken for granted, misrepresented, and talked down to by the same “elite” Republicans in Washington who hopelessly screwed everything up during the Bush years.]
Unfortunately, they and their comrades of the left do not care what the majority thinks.
While I would normally agree with, this I make an exception in this case and say the voters of Upstate New York should choose Douglas Hoffman
Resign or be assimilated.
And then there was the ridiculous strategy of backing Arlen Specter in the primary so that the Republicans could avoid a Democratic majority in the Senate. Boy, that worked great, didn’t it?
Something I can really get behind.
Republicans act like Democrats and then are surprised when folks go for the real thing. Who doesn’t prefer real to counterfeit?
Obama is unelectable next time around, so Newt’s arguments are baseless.
We are after them till we are blue in the face they STILL (by and large) will have NONE OF IT.
Their moderate RINO Republican candidates in the Presidential campaign all got conservative suddenly on that issue, the true conservatives were pushed out, and then they reverted to either their silence, or their out right pandering the Hispanic vote by talking about Gods Children and tolerance, despite our country being overrun and burdened to death with taxes, crime and disease.
NO MORE OF IT. NOT ONE MORE MINUTE OF IT, FOR ME.
I also think if Doug Hoffman wins next week in upstate New York's 23rd District, everyone copy this brilliant article, staple your local newspaper's story about Hoffman's win, and mail it to the Republican National Committee in D.C. (and especially the NRCC). Put in a blank check, cancel/void it out on the face, but write in "Republican National Committee" as payee, and put in "ZERO 0/00" as the amount.
This is a great article. I just sent a copy along with my own sentiments to info@gop.com. Everyone here should do the same and let these jackasses know how you feel!

Snowe is screwing us!
Specter screwed us!
Jeffords screwed us!
We are not going to take it anymore NEWT!
KMA!!!!!!!!
If these so-called journalists do not understand what the TARP Program is/was a year later, they need to retire their pens.
As Mark Levin would say “Conservatives are just a little bit tired of taking it in the throat.”
“Newt was on Fox News last night on Gretas show, discussing health care. I turned the TV off.”
Ditto! I have heard all I want from that RINO clown.
The RINO elites have picked a fight with conservatives while kissing up to the left.
The RNC or their affiliates do not "take our money" at the point of a gun. Morons send them their money of their own free will then expect to dictate how it is to be used.
End the problem -- send money to the candidates of YOUR CHOOSING!
If Scuzzy won NY-23 how long until she jumps ships?
The GOP no longer represents conservatives, and it would seem they have no intention of winning the next elections.
The Oldest Con in the world...is Good Cop-Bad Cop....its how the Oligarchy maintains control..
Absolutely brilliant observation of what is going on in this country.
I followed your lead and did the same.

Addon. Just off the top of my head.
The author is describing, and addressing,
elitIST Republicans.
There’s nothing wrong with being “elite” - we love having those who achieve and have great thinking skills on our side (Thomas Sowell, your ears are itching).
But, we DON’T want those who are elites, or think they are elites, to get the idea that they have a right and duty to make our decisions for us. That’s elitISM.
“I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of Constitutional power.”
Thomas Jefferson
As opposed to today’s elitist view of
intentionally dumbing down the education system so that the elites have an excuse for making all the decisions and having all the power.
Amen. Newt and McKennedy, shove it up your Obama.
Well, McCain would be to old in 2012, so he can forget it right there. Besides I would not make the same mistake twice in a row and vote for him again should he run
A great rant, but it offers no solutions. We have an election barely a year into the future and there are NO replacement CONSERVATIVES that we can send to Washington to get rid of the horrible crop of Republicans AND Democrats already there!! THAT’S the problem!!
The disease is Washington politics and the Democrats AND Republicans are merely its symptoms. Politicians from BOTH sides learned long ago that all they have to do is tell us what we want to hear and they have a lifetime job filled with money, graft, corruption, power and the “good” life!!
Expecting to fix Washington by having the Republican Party suddenly change its stripes overnight is unrealistic and not a solution. Washington is not going to fix itself. The politicians are not going to fix the ills of the political system. WE, the people who own this government from its corrupt, lying top to its corrupt, lying bottom are the ONLY ones who can fix it!! And we fix it by hitting the “Reset” button, dumping everyone of the current crop of liars and crooks and starting over with honest, principled, honorable and ethical people!!
The definition of insanity os doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!! We have elected and re-elected the same people to the same Congressional seats time and time again and we keep expecting to see improvements!! That makes US the insane ones!!
Right on Brother, my sentiments exactly.
Tired of being crapped on by my own party.
Force the RINO’s from the party.
Today, it's everyone in Congress with an "R" after their name.
Don’t foget Orrin Hatch. Who grieved so marvelously at Ted Kennedy’s funeral.
Outstanding message.

Mr.Newt has a very good view on what needs to be done with the health care system, and for at least a year has been pushing for the right solutions: portability, medical savings accounts plus high-deductable insurance, cross-state buying of insurance policies, tort reform. Please go to his web site, and find out what he has been pushing for. I’ve heard his position at many interviews, and his position is right in line with that of most of us here at FR.
GOP/RNC. Washington is not the problem. I wish it was ‘a problem’. Washington is a threat. It, and you, and the Democrats, and all the bureaucrats, are becoming my physical enemy. You already are my philosophical and economical enemy and enemy to my few remaining liberties that you have traded, sold, outlawed.
Wake the F up. We’ve had two wars in this country to settle intractable political logjams. We might well have a third.
Want to charge me as seditious? Traitor? Go ahead. Clear out the BS, and light the tinder. I’ll meet the cadre in prison, and we’ll start from there.
What you, and Newt are talking about is finding a way to finance/pay for a system that’s prices are driven by government spending( try competing as a customer against that ), rent seeking, lobbyists, forced mandates on nearly everyone involved.
Doesn’t matter what, or how it is financed, paid, or insured. With so much anti-free market, anti-free labor, anti-free customer purchase costs will as they are, outstrip the general 2 percent growth in wealth .
Newt is for a good water based vinyl Spackle on the rotted political/economic framework that is collapsing under it’s own self made contradictions.
Its leadership must take action to announce what are the party's core principles. That act is necessarily exclusive: you can be a Republican if you support and believe (these key things) but not, if you do not subscribe to them.
I believe that until the Republican Party makes it clear to all just what are its principles, it will continue to drift; conservatives will remain unsure of their allegiance, much less dominance of the party, while "moderates" will likewise be uncertain of their stature with it.
So what will it be? Drift and incoherence or determination and consistency? One of those groupings is a winner and the other, well, you know what it is. Isn't that right Senator McCain?
elite republican = democrat
I frankly don’t care about his views on healthcare, because he’s jumped ship on too many vital issues; GW and this particular race for instance.
I refuse to listen further to those who promote ‘moderate’ (aka liberal) candidates and RINOS over true conservatives.
I may not trust the demonrats, but I can always trust them to BE demonrats.
With republicans, you donate money to and vote for them only to have them vote with the 'rats.
Speaking of...WTF is up with Newt? I think he's possessed. You'd never know it today, but once upon a time, he was a force for conservatism and the Republican party.
