Carson City will be included in a 38-city national bus tour tomorrow when the Tea Party Express II rolls into town for a political rally Wednesday morning.

Organizers said the tour is trumpeting conservative causes and policies during its 19-day trip around the nation, ending on Nov. 12 in Orlando. The first Tea Party Express tour started in late August and ended on Sept. 12 in Washington, D.C., for a rally on the National Mall.

The Web site for the national tour says it is a "countdown to judgment day," for elected leaders seeking reelection in 2010, which includes Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m. in Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Rd. The bus is expected to arrive at 9:30 a.m. and leave by 11 a.m.

Speakers will include Republican U.S. Senate candidates Robin Titus and Sharron Angle and state Assemblyman James Settelmeyer, R-Gardnerville, who is running for the state Senate.

Sue Kyle, a retired Carson Valley woman who is organizing the local event, said the Wednesday rally is not for the GOP, but an event for conservatives.

"Whether they have an "R" or "D" at the end of their name is not important to me," Kyle said. "They need to be a conservative for me to support them."
