Did Schwarzenegger drop 4-letter bomb in veto? (Yes)
San Francisco Gate ^ | October 27, 2009 | Phillip Matier,Andrew Ross, Chronicle Columnists

SACRAMENTO -- Did Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office use a coded veto message to send the f-bomb to Tom Ammiano, soon after the San Francisco assemblyman made news by telling the governor to "kiss my gay ass"?

Schwarzenegger's people say no. But the X-rated evidence is hard to miss in a message that Schwarzenegger sent to explain why he was vetoing an Ammiano bill dealing with financing for the Port of San Francisco.

A straight reading of the guv's letter laments "the fact that major issues are overlooked while many unnecessary bills come to me for consideration," and concludes, "I believe it is unnecessary to sign this measure at this time."

But a vertical read of the far-left-hand letters in each of the missive's eight lines offers a more blunt explanation: "I f- you."

Schwarzenegger's press secretary, Aaron McLear, insisted Tuesday it was simply a "weird coincidence."

The hidden message - if that's what it was - "was certainly more subtle than 'kiss my gay ass,' " said Barbara O'Connor, political science professor at Sacramento State University. "But it shows the acrimony and bad feelings in Sacramento are pretty bad.

"I doubt if it was the governor himself," O'Connor said. "But maybe the staff was having a good time."

I guess his gay ass got kicked instead of kissed. Oh well, occupational hazard.

And if you listen to his speeches backward, you can hear him say “Hail Satan, kill yourself”

Sheesh.

I think this is really funny, especially after TA shrieked out, “Kith my gay ath!” to the Governator.

Now TA wants to “move on.” Yeah, I bet he does now that his proposals are getting stuffed back down his throat everytime he puts them on the floor in Sacramento.

You’re not a “Thupervither” in “Than Franthithco” anymore; different arena with different rules.

I forget — did the San Francisco Gate do a big story on Obama giving the one-finger salute to Hillary? Twice?

Not exactly a Churchillian exchange was it? I guess that the quality of our pols has gotten lower with the general quality of our culture. Oh, and California’s still in debt and getting worse.

Yes, all the offspring of the anti-establishment/counter-culture policy of the radicals in the 1960’s.

At the risk of sounding like a Polly Anna, I for one miss the civility of people. From road rage, to mindless television and entertainment, foul language and individuals being just plain rude and inconsiderate, I am saddened and fearful for what we are producing.

I agree that it would be much more pleasant if people behaved themselves with some good manners and some class. I was just pointing out the absurdity of the media’s acting shocked.

IIRC, the last stages of the Roman Empire featured foul graffiti sprawled all over the place. A clear sign, for sure of where this country is heading.

When the civility of people is gone, what's left? For a few weeks after 9/11 people were a little more friendly, more civil to their fellow man. More people went to church. Then that went away. Look at the TV shows and movies from yesteryear. I look at them and think I'm viewing an alternate universe. Now look at today. What's really fearful is the rapid descent into hell.

Liberals aren’t capable of being offended by anything.
They’re like a person wallowing in the garbage of a gutter being “oh so shocked” a leaf fell on them... What a joke.

Still can’t beat the exchange of insults on the floor of parliament between John Montague, Earl of Sandwich and John Wilkes:

(Montagu) “Egad sir, I do not know whether you will die on the gallows or of the pox (venereal disease).”

(Wilkes) “That will depend, my Lord, on whether I embrace your principles or your mistress.”

Churchill also had great exchanges with George Bernard Shaw:

Shaw told Winston Churchill : "Have reserved two tickets for first night. Come and bring a friend if you have one."

Churchill responded, "Impossible to come to first night. Will come to second night, if you have one."

It’s funny you mention about the movies of yesteryear. I watched an old Hitchcock show and an old Night Galley a few nights ago. The Hitchcock one featured an weird old landlady playing church hymns as she taxidermied her male guests. The Night Gallery was about a “sin eater” who had to eat food around a dead person so their sins would be forgiven. The start of Hollywood’s attack against God? I think.

Interesting theory. I have not seen that film, now I’ll have to.

I watch shows like ADAM-12 and Dragnet on RTV. Did those shows really take place in the USA?
