Gun Owners of America endorses Doug Hoffman (C) NY-23 Special Election Tuesday Nov 3rd

GOA-PVF Supports Doug Hoffman in New York Special Election October 27, 2009

Dear Friend of the Second Amendment,

You may have heard about a special Congressional election taking place next week in upstate New York. The race features a Nancy Pelosi Democrat and a Republican with long-standing ties to ACORN against a genuine pro-gun leader named Doug Hoffman.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Doug Hoffman in this race.

Doug Hoffman is a 100% gun rights supporter who will be a leader in the battle to defend the Second Amendment.

Doug Hoffman Mr. Hoffman believes that laws restricting your right to keep and bear arms is no way to fight crime.

As the next Congressman from New York, Doug Hoffman will fight hard against the gun control schemes coming out of Nancy Pelosi’s office and he will work to repeal unconstitutional gun laws on the books.

One of Doug Hoffman’s opponents, Bill Owens, will be just another YES vote for radical anti-gun House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He refuses to let voters know where he stands on specific gun control issues, which enables him to play it both ways on the Second Amendment.

Politicians like this are slowly destroying our right to keep and bear arms.

Mr. Hoffman’s other opponent, Dede Scozzafava, voted in 1999 for the kind of “study” of gun “safety” that is so often used by the gun prohibitionists as a backdoor to greater and more intrusive regulation. Attacking gun owners’ rights under the cover of “safety” is a favorite tactic of the anti-Second Amendment crowd and she voted for it.

She also voted in 1999 to stick gun owners with a burdensome reporting requirement when a gun is stolen. Under that law, the victim of a gun theft can be criminally prosecuted if the theft is not reported quickly enough to suit the authorities. This type of law turns the victim into a criminal.

These are not the votes of a 100% defender of the Second Amendment.

In addition, this candidate has close ties to the radical anti-gun group ACORN. The current leader of ACORN, Bertha Lewis, also co-founded New York’s Working Families Party—a party that supported Scozzafava in past elections.

The right choice for gun owners in this election is clearly Doug Hoffman.

One recent poll shows Mr. Hoffman with a slight lead in the three-way race, but the election is all about voter turnout. In the last few days of the campaign Doug needs our financial help to reach out to as many pro-Second Amendment voters as possible.

Your contribution of $25, $50, $100, or more at http://www.doughoffmanforcongress.com will help Doug Hoffman stay on the air, speaking directly to voters.

Your support of Doug Hoffman will send a strong message to Congressional leaders of both parties in Washington—a message that says NO to Nancy Pelosi’s gun control agenda and NO to more business-as-usual politicians.

We need representatives who are willing to “rock the boat” on Capitol Hill, and Doug Hoffman is just that type of candidate. Please go to http://www.doughoffmanforcongress.com right away!

Sincerely, Tim Macy Vice-Chairman

Doug keeps picking up support, that's good. If every Gun Owners member would give just $10 he would have $3 million to fight his battle. If the 4 million NRA members would donate to fellow NRA member Doug Hoffman $10. He would be up in Corzine country.

(I) asked Duncan Hunter (Senior, retired) and Junior (current US Congressman) yesterday, to officially endorse Doug Hoffman, too. Have not heard back or seen any news.

Suggest all Hunteristas ask the same of them. Ramp up those old 2008 e-mail and fax lists.

Also appeal is made to Tancredistas to also ask former Congressman Tancredo to offer an endorsment this week.

We CONSERVATIVES, in the GOP and as a national force, can somehow start to make up with Doug in 2009, where we got screwed by McCain in 2008.

fyi, an “ista” when used by a conservative is usually derogatory in nature as it derives from the old leftist dictatorship in Nicaragua that called themselves “sandinistas”.

Hunterites or Tancredoites would be more complimentary.

Now I’m confused. I know Hoffman doesn’t actually live in the NY district he’s running to represent (apparently this is perfectly legal — as long as he lives there by the time he’s sworn in), but I didn’t realize he lives in New Jersey and is also running for governor. The guy gets around!

Hoffman lives 10 miles from the district line. He was inside but the line was change in 2000. He promises to move down the block if he wins. He was born there and the business he owns and runs is totally inside the district from 1906. So please stop following Newt’s stupidity in pretending like he is an outsider.

I don't believe this is true, but it's a possibility: Suppose Gingrich knew he'd enrage the conservative bloc? Suppose he kept poking us with more and more outlandish comments on purpose? He's not up for any elections. It would have been brilliant strategery.

Go Hoffman!! No more RINOS!!

I have read polls showing Hoffman leading by a good margin. IF HE WINS, it could be a watershed victory, proving that indeed we don't have to put up with no more Rinos!. It could lead to an insurgency in the RP, such as happened after 1964. OR, it could lead to a new national party - the Conservative Party! In a three-way race, what would Rinos have to offer?

Well, maybe I am over-optimistic, but "could happen, ya know?"

I don’t know, but I did find this:

“As an NRA member, Doug believes the Second Amendment is far more vital to our nation than just protecting the recreational activities of hunters and target shooters. The Founding Fathers thought these right’s so vital to a free country that they specifically created the Bill of Rights. They did not want to leave any doubt as to what tools must be available to the lone citizen.

• The first amendment’s protection of the ability to question government and assuring the capacity of citizens to communicate to one another.
• The fifth amendment’s designation of property rights as the clear demarcation line between the individual and the community.
• The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh’s establishing the due process by which the judiciary and law enforcement officers must adhere to in applying the law to individuals.

But the second amendment was included to give bite to the other protections outlined in the Bill of Rights. Without it, all other amendments are nothing more than talk.

Doug Hoffman believes citizens in all states plus the District of Columbia should have a “Right to Carry” with a CCW permits, a right that is now enjoyed in over 38 states.

Doug Hoffman opposes any federal ban or registration on the types and cosmetics of rifles that law-abiding American citizens can own.”

You expect brilliance from Newt - so when he exposes his lack of it - one might assume "it's just a move but we can't see the brilliance of that move, yet!" Not hardly - face it, he's a RINO and the 'brilliant' mask is off and a deceitful mask replaced it. He's aligned himself w/Al Sharpton, Pelosi and all the RINO'S and against conservatives values.

He's not up for any elections

If he runs on the Democrat ticket, he might have a chance.

Another one of their "compromises"? Sometimes I think the NRA is awful jealous of GOA, they are getting lukewarm on our self-defense freedoms.

Speaking as a life member, the NRA is a great defender of our 2nd amendment rights but they are strictly a one-issue organization. They have given Max Baucus (D-MT) an A+ rating as well. I'm sure there are others.

I know. It’s not a perfect system but I can’t count the number of times the NRA has been burned by want to be’s who will say anything to get into office.

Kinda hard to get jealous of something that never does anything.

For the upteenth time, I’m going to ask the same question. When has the goa ever done a single thing on their own?

In fact, I’ll go first. Morton Grove, Illinois no longer has that gun ban because of the NRA. Your turn.

He has the endorsement from Gun Owners of American-PVF.

Yeah, they set themselves up to be burned by 'wanna be' Dede - running as a Republican but who is more liberal than the democrat running. NRA endorsed her.
