Catch a cat killer, make $7,500
Examiner ^ | October 28, 2009 | Stacy Mantle

Posted on 10/29/2009 2:41:21 AM PDT by myknowledge

It’s the digital age, the age where every move we make is virtually tracked through Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and more. We have cameras set up on nearly every corner, video clips are as easy to access as your cell phone, and yet somehow, animal cruelty still exists with over 5,000 cases being reported each month.

Now a person has managed to slice 14 cats down their spine. Another 20 cats were poisoned and dumped into a Phoenix canal. And at least another 24 cats have been reported burned and/or drowned with threatening notes left next to their mutilated bodies in central Phoenix.

Want to make a quick $7,500? Catch someone in the act of committing animal cruelty...

What a waste! I love cats, they taste just like rabbit. In fact, in the near future when the producer : consumer ratio is completely blown and food is far more important than pets, you can replace the rabbit in your favorite Hasenpfeffer recipe with cat and your family won’t be able to tell the difference. Actually, if you have ever traveled abroad and had any kind of rabbit stew, there is a better than 60% chance you already ate cat and didn’t know it. Very tender when they are young.
(taken from my last cat post because it still applies here)

Can I turn in a pussy?

Have you ever in your life watched a young cat with it’s first prey?

It bites a bit. Then chases a bit. Then slaps a bit.

Then takes a brief nap.
When it wakes up, anythings on the table.

It torments. Completely.

Then, it ain’t even dam hungry enough to eat whatever, even though it sits there kinda twitching.

Cats are monsters with no sense of mercy or humanity or empathy or need. If you were half as big as you are, and your cat was twice as big as he is, you wouldn’t be the “owner”... you’d be the “Lunch”.

I hate cats.

I would never eat a cat.

Way, way too much of the “skank” component for my taste.

Never say never. When you’ve been stuck in the jungle, be it asphalt or otherwise, for a week living on dirty water and bugs, you would be surprised how great rat, snake or cat tastes!

"I would never eat a cat. Way, way too much of the “skank” component for my taste."

Weird comparison. What does a "skank" taste like?

Oh, and feelings about people who let their cats run free aside, I hope they catch whoever is doing this.

I hear ya.

Just sayin, I’m sure they can be prepared quite tasty. And where they are plentiful, there are folks that depend on them. But it’s kinda not my style, there is something about them that doesn’t fit in with normal ecology.

Like I said, they are monsters.

Ahah!

You have just explained it, without even realizing, why we are doomed!

Ok. We, as westerners, have a type of built in sympathy for downtrodden or disadvantaged type folks. Your statement about hoping they catch the perpetrator shows that in your heart, hatred or cruelty is repugnant to you.

Commendable. Maybe.
Except...

Do you think there are no factions on Earth that would not cut your throat in a heartbeat? We keep hearing about Islam and jihad and all the rest all the damn time!

It’s a horrible sense, and in my opinion it’s totally anti-Christian, but unless we feel and act like cats, we are all gonna end up the playtoys of cats.

The article is about the torture of companion animals by sociopathic individuals. You know- those types who later do the same to people.

Your comments are just assinine.

“Oh so you mean these cats are running around uncontrolled. Perhaps cat owners should keep their cats inside”

Every cat owner I’ve known who cares about their cats has kept them in the house. The cats don’t seem any less happy than the ones that roam - and they’re certainly a lot safer!

Sometimes I wonder how people who love to watch other creatures suffer would feel if the same thing happened to them. Truth be told, many will “graduate” to larger prey, first children, then adults. How unfortunate to see so many on FR enabling this kind of behavior.

I would like to think that Hell has a special circle for animal abusers, especially for those who abuse cats in any way.

I would also like to think that there is still some Vigilante Justice in Phoenix. But if you tell anyone I said that, I’ll deny I even know you!

Funny, the traits you mention are some of the reasons I love cats. I know that if I died and no one found me for a while, they’d eat me and I’m OK with that; maybe it would save on the cremation costs...

Most people who hate cats are scared of them...

I love cats but mine are inside cats. I hate people who let their animals run free.

I’ve said this before and caught heat on it. If your cat shows up outside my door and it doesn’t have a collar or identification, guess what, I’ve got a new indoor kitteh.

I just abhor killing something for the sake of killing it and in our culture cats, horses and dogs are pets. Companions we would do anything we could to help.

That chump, however, is feral and there ain't no cure.

Besides, he is probably just a a mommy’s boy and drinks his toughness. Other than that, probably another loud mouth with no real friends.

Good to know. I like people who are extra-tough on evil humans and have an ultra-soft spot for animals. The late Judge Ellen Morphonios (a.k.a. "Maximum Morphonios") was like that too. Even took her pet chimp to work with her for many years (though I don't think it was ever allowed in the courtroom, stayed in her office).

I'm really hoping Arpaio will run for elected office one of these days. He's a great Sheriff, but we need people like him *making* the laws, not being hobbled by them.

Ah, yes, I guess that’s the case in many places. At any rate, I was thinking of his moving up the line. A stint in the State Senate perhaps, followed by a stint as Governor, and then he might be ready for Washington.
