OREGON, Ohio — A furious Ohio mother says her 7-year-old son, who has had problems with medications, was vaccinated for swine flu at school against her wishes.

Kim Lutheran works as a nurse and says her son, Matthew, has had bad reactions to medicine. So, she says she signed for "no consent" on a vaccination form and then circled her intentions with a black marker to make things clear to the boy's public school in the Toledo suburb of Oregon.

SNIP

Deputy Health Commissioner Larry Vasko says his agency has responded by changing the consent forms, telling parents not to sign or return them if they do not want their children vaccinated.

And they'll get away with it too.

New federal policy: If you want it you can’t have it. If you don’t want it you MUST get it.

This seems oddly bass-ackward; you sign a non-conscent form to opt out of a vaccination? So, if your son is lethally allergic to eggs, and he misplaces the form - he will die?

How about the kids be required to turn in a conscent form, thus if the form is signed and turned into the school; he’s allowed to get a shot.

And educators wonder why the public thinks of them as mentally deficient, over-paid and under-skilled semi-professionals. Perhaps it’s because we see so many examples of them acting like mentally deficient, over-paid and under-skilled semi-professionals?

This doesn't surprise me at all.
This kinda crap goes on at our school, too.
I have intentionally denied consent on some benign, routine health checks for years, just as a test to see if they really do look at the forms, and my kids always report that they were checked.
(It's usually an eye test, hearing test, or the perennial favorite: flouride ‘swish’-I vary from year to year.)

Considering the legal ramifications, y'think they would be more diligent.

Obviously the school and the district need some remedial reading skill boosted slightly...

When you say “NO” and circle it, it seems the intent is clear...

If the school and district have problems comprehending these little nuggets of information, then I would seriously question their ability to do what they are hired to do, and that is teach...

Not provide nanny-state daycare, nutritional and healthcare initiatives...

The label “mindless bureaucrats” was earned, and is well deserved. I’ve run into similar failure to follow “special directions” many times, even when I’ve made eye-contact and gotten verbal agreement from the mindless bureaucrat.

Our pubic schools are scary.

They play the opt-out game all the time, with this, with the students’ records, with deep-digging ‘surveys’ of the kids. They believe our kids are there to serve their purposes.

And much of the documentation they send out wouldn’t pass a 9th grade english review.

Remember:Those who can’t...teach.

Someone would be forking over a HUGE settlement or they would bleed, one or the other and to show how magnanimous I am the choice would be theirs.

Touch my family without permission, you’re going to pay for it in spades.

Yeah, let’s give the school the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise you have to sue them for assault, or, I don’t know, maybe write them a private letter saying you may have accidentally infected their spouse with a really stubborn venereal disease. ;)

When you meet the real thing it is like talking to the wall.
I went to the county property tax assessor’s office once to try to straighten out a problem and the woman I was talking to spotted a shed on the aerial photograph of my property and asked me when I built it, I told her I didn’t build it it was on the property when I bought it, she then asked me why I wasn’t paying taxes on it and I told her I pay taxes according to their billing, it is not my place to figure out if they left something off, then she asked me AGAIN when I built the shed and I told her it was on the property when I bought it, then she asked AGAIN why I wasn’t paying taxes on the shed. We went around in circles until I finally asked to speak to a supervisor and then she started acting like a conscious person.

This "furious Ohio mother" needs to walk to the mirror and do some finger-pointing, because her son is her responsibility.

He relies on her for his safety and well-being. Foolishly delegating that responsibilty to a government institution - particularly given what we know today about this government institution - only further implicates her in the negligent endangerment of her son's health.
