For the third year in a row, residents and visitors have voted Philadelphia the city with the least attractive people, according to a survey by Travel + Leisure.
But that's not all; the City of Brotherly Love also ranked as the least stylish, least active, least friendly and least worldy by 60,000 respondents who ranked 30 cities in several categories ranging from food to nightlife to culture. On the bright side, the beauty of the museums and art galleries was enough to boost Philly to the third spot in the Historical Sites/Monuments category.

Well, they just gotta keep the uglies outta the museums and they’ll get a bump again next year! :)
They must be suicidal, too. Last time I drove there, I nearly hit about 5 pedestrians in 15 minutes. They just step out into the street without looking.
Also, in an “ethnic” neighborhood, the barbecue grills were blocking one lane.
And their are cheering the dog-torturer Michael Vick.
Just this year Chicago fell in the rankings while D.C. rose. Go figure.
They’re looking to hit paydirt when they win that lawsuit against you for negligent driving. Hopefully they’ll get enough for an extreme makeover.
“Sire, the people are revolting!”
“You betcha — they stink on ice!”
They looked good last night. BEAT THE YANKEES!
That can’t be right. Da Mayor must have used some of that $100 million for the Olympics bid on bribing the Chicago’s ranking downward.
Last time I was in Philly, I got depressed very quickly. What a bleak, drab town. And the buildings/streets were dreary too!
The only nice folks I know in the Philly area are imports from upstate NY, so they don’t count.
Philly sucks. Last year two of my friends and I almost got mugged (and in the case of my friends, it would have been a black-on-black mugging, LOL).
Tennessee (except for Memphis), Indiana, and upstate SC, in comparison, are freaking awesome.
No wonder Ben Franklin skipped town and didn't come back.
Was looking for Baltimore, but found:
#19 Las Vegas
Visitors may be coming for the What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas attitude, but they arent coming to check out attractive locals. They do, however, appreciate the glam citys luxury hotels (#1), big-name restaurants (#4), and people-watching (#3).
#27 Washington, D.C.
Policy wonks may strike visitors to the nations capital as intelligent (the city ranks #6 in the category), but apparently not as visually appealing as Miamis beachgoers. For the third year in a row, Washington finishes strongly for family vacations (#2), historic monuments (#1, duh), and museums (#1).
I just got back from my first trip to Vermont. Never been to Philly, but it’s hard to imagine that the people there are uglier than the people in Vermont. Even the women had beards and looked like loggers.
All the “Hot Babes” marry rich ugly Men and move to the “Main Line” which is right outside of the City.
I don’t get it. I love Philly. I’m from the south too. I think it’s a great city, although, I do live in the suburbs. I like to travel to the city though. The art museum is one of my favorites and I love the Independence Hall area.
These people have never visited New Orleans.
having met Ed Rendell in person, I do not disagree
(To be fair, the folks in many white neighborhoods in Northeast Philly aint exactly the most attractive in the world, ditto the cows in places like Bellmawr across the river).
Miami had the hottest women of any place I have lived. And I am NOT talking about the poseurs on South Beach either.
Whomever wrote that line clearly has not been to Old Town Alexandria on a Friday night.
You should see their faces when the Cowboys come to town.
Way to go Filthadelphia! You’re #1!
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, because these rankings of attractiveness are all screwed up in my opinion.
San Antonio near the bottom??? Texas women are among the most beautiful in the country and San Antonio’s are no exception.

Yeh, even that big old bell they have is cracked....
Never cared for women on the west coast. From northern California to the BC border, they tend to look like tattooed lesbos. Lots of fatties in much of the South(east), unfortunately.
Made a promise never to diss ugly people in the U.S. after liberty call in Istanbul Turkey.
Just look at an Iggles football game. Everyone there looks morbidly obese and look like they will die of a coronary any minute. Does anyone in Philly excercise?
Only because none of the pollers ever made it out of Detroit alive.
I guess W.C. Fields was right.
Well if they want to counter your claim they better submit something better looking than the woman looking for free tickets? Oh Mama!
Thou speaks the truth. On my last trip into the S/E USA, I didn't see more than a few attractive women from the time I left Virginia, till I got to Oklahoma.
I was first in the south in 1970, and it was totally different. But they still have a certain charm - maybe it's just the accent?
One can only blame Wal-Mart (for their incredibly cheap Moon Pies)
“Even the women had beards and looked like loggers.”
You get that anywhere liberal women gather, LOL! We have lots of bearded ladies in ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan.’
How did Boston fare? I always thought that Bostonians looked bedraggled and unhappy.
No arguement from me but they gotta helluva baseball team!
In ‘80 my company sent me to Philly to do some contract programming work. I was to stay in a downtown hotel/inn/motel (whatever) near the place where I was to work. It was in January and colder that a (fill in the blank). I enjoyed the work and the people I worked with there were the best. I even got out to take in the sights, but the hotel,...
The first room they gave had a window that would not shut. I asked and was moved to a second room. This one had windows that shut, but one had a bullet hole in it. I kept this room, and stuffed a washcloth in the hole.
When I got back to Denver, my boss asked me how was Philly. I told him the only thing Philly had was a bell and that had a crack in it. We all had a laugh over that comment. I really did like it there, although I’m still puzzled why I had to go over into New Jersey to get a case of Rolling Rock to take back to Denver (another good story).
They beat the best team money can buy last night.
A lot of muzzies there now too. I will never go back. I can make my own cheese steaks.
Lee was unhittable. Hats off to a great hurler.
At least the mohamadans have the decency to cover their women!
/half sarc
Philli fans are horrendous. I have watched the crowd when members of rival teams are injured or hit, fans are cheering, laughing..they remind me of drunken romans. I would never cheer on any team from Philli, because their fans are such ugly people.
Helen Thomas is waiting to be made Grand Marshall of the parade....
I agree. It’s one of my favorite cities. The people are so rude they’re funny. Great restaurants, wonderful history, excellent entertainment, and fine museums. Four stars.
From the moment foot hit pavement, I despised Boston. Exception for the Museum of Science. That was fun.
I would have guessed Capitol Hill.
Having lived in San Antonio for 3 years, I agree with the low ranking. Coyote Ugly downtown was more like Mammoth Ugly. Austin and Dallas, though, thumbs up!
I went to New Orleans once in college. Didn’t like it at all. Felt much less safe than I did in NYC.
Rendell is actually a very personable individual. He also helped Philly come back financially when he was mayor. While he’s basically a good manager, I don’t think he’s made a good or ethical governor.
Really? My husband and I went to Boston several years ago and fell in love with the city. We mourned the fact that we couldn’t afford a second home. We’d like to spend part of our time there. It surprised us because we aren’t city people.
I visited Boston last week and loved it! Got to spend the whole day walking around seeing the historical sights. It was great to see some of the great places from our country’s past. Too bad the people there have forgotten why Boston was important.
We did get a cab driver though who had an anti-Obama bumper sticker on his dash. He was an immigrant from Ukraine, loved America, and said that if he wanted to live with socialism, he would have stayed home!
