Early Release for 660 Inmates a Possibility
A pair of New Mexico prisons would be closed and as many as 660 inmates released before completing their full prison terms if a budget-cutting bill passed last week by state lawmakers is signed into law, state officials said Wednesday.
-SNIP-
Richardson told reporters Wednesday that hes concerned closing the prisons could raise public safety issues and criticized lawmakers for approving state agency cuts during last weeks special session that average 7.6 percent. -SNIP-
Between 530 and 660 inmates could be released early, about 10 percent of the states current prison population of 6,400.
-SNIP-
Administration officials yesterday issued a release saying health services may be cut
and today plan a news conference to lay out what they say would happen to services provided by the Children, Youth and Families Department. -SNIP-
Richardson told lawmakers prior to the special session that he wanted to balance the state budget without
raising taxes, laying off or furloughing state employees or impacting public school classrooms.

King Bill's wild spending spree with taxpayer money is catching up with the state...he needs to lay off about 100 of his political cronies that are drawing big bucks on the state payroll for little or no work, and in the meantime lining their pockets with "pay to play" cash.
Now we will have an additional 600 felons released into the communities to join the countless other native and illegals who are preying on honest citizens.
Thanks, Bill.

Besides the loss of jobs for Roswell, dexter and the surrounding area, I have one big question.
Will those released be taken back to their home districts or just put in a van, given a few bucks, then dumped in Roswell...........it makes a difference.
If they dump these people we are in trouble. We have a underfunded, undermanned police force.

So what are the odds these former inmates will be driven to the border and ordered back across?

Richardson told lawmakers prior to the special session that he wanted to balance the state budget without raising taxes, laying off or furloughing state employees or impacting public school classrooms. But releasing convicted felons is ok. This is about the most irresponsible governance you could imagine!

No, but it needs to be identified as such.

So what are the odds these former inmates will be driven to the border and ordered back across? The odds are higher, they will be dumped in the town square.

...or impacting public school classrooms.Well, if New Mexico is anything like Houston, Texas or Shoreline, Washington he could cut 50% of the education budget and not impact schools negatively.
How ? Fire administrators ! The "educrats" who are NOT classroom teachers, but who make up 75% of the district's employees. Highly paid parasites who detract from real education, yet whose numbers continually grow like a terminal cancer.

To: greyfoxx39; All
Bullets are cheap.
I fact, I’ll GIVE them enough to reduce the prison population by as many as they plan to release.
Much more efficient to do it there, than to have us doing it piecemeal in defense of our homes, our cars, our children and our wallets.
