Paris, France (AHN) - France's largest telecommunications firm is setting aside $1.48 billion to fund a stress-reduction program for staff aimed at ending a spate of suicides among its workers.
France Telecom SA revealed the plan Wednesday in the face of lower third quarter profits.
Under the planned program, staff aged over 57 or those who feel full time work is adversely affecting their health will be offered part-time jobs.
Last year, 28 staff of the firm committed suicide. The suicides were blamed on poor working conditions at the company, which is trying to cut cost to meet profit targets.
That’s NUTS! Why not distribute that 1.5 BILLION out to the employees? Nothing like getting a nice fat surprise check of let’s say $100,000 in the mail to lift the spirits.
100,000 employees in France. $15k each would buy a lot of Prozac. Or hookers.
Or, you could pay $60,000,000 to each of the suicides last year, just to illustrate what a preposterous socialist government waste this is.
There, fixed it
Moderation in all things is best. Get some Prozac AND some hookers.
Sounds like a serious morale problem. Maybe an 'Employee of the month' plaque would help. It seems to work at McDonald's.
Exactly.
“Thats NUTS! Why not distribute that 1.5 BILLION out to the employees? Nothing like getting a nice fat surprise check of lets say $100,000 in the mail to lift the spirits.”
That would prevent too many suicides. They want to have enough workers alive to keep the company going and enough suicides to make mother Earth happy.
