40 DAYS FOR LIFE - DAY 37 - 2000 BABIES SAVED SO FAR! ^ | October 29, 2009 | Faith

40 Days for Life consists of 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion,
40 days of constant, peaceful vigil outside abortion centers and Planned Parenthood offices
and 40 days of active pro-life community outreach.

"They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters... and the land was polluted with blood. Then the anger of the lord was kindled against his people, and He abhorred his heritage; he gave them into the hands of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power. (See Psalm 106:37-43)

Your community may be participating in this prayerful vigil.
If so, please join others in your area
or unite with thousands across America
during these 40 days in Autumn
as we pray for an end to abortion in this nation.

Pray that we will each submit ourselves this day as a living sacrifice to God, giving all that we have in us for those being sacrificed on the altar of convenience.

I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

-- Romans 12:1

REFLECTION by Carmen Pate

Since all things are for His glory, we are to offer ourselves for that purpose. This of course is in sharp contrast to those who are being swayed by the enemy to sacrifice their babies on the altar of convenience, rather than choosing to surrender their all, including their unborn child, to the Lord for His purposes.

A career, education goals, or even a boyfriend can unknowingly become an idol for some young women. In their minds, abortion is a convenient way to "rid themselves" of an obstacle in the way of their "worship."

In light of the sacrifice Christ made on our behalf, and the fruit of God's mercies on our lives, we owe God our highest form of praise and worship. Presenting our bodies as living sacrifices is therefore reasonable service.

We were made to worship God and God alone. The enemy who seeks worship for himself distorts God's truth regarding worship, sacrifice, idols, and children.

As you have given of yourself to rescue those who are perishing -- the young woman and her child -- you are worshiping God in the truest sense of the word.

May your example lead an abortion minded client to turn from her idols to worship the one true God, sparing her child from the altar of convenience, and sparing herself from a lifetime of regret.

God Almighty, You alone are worthy of our praise and worship. Having accepted Your Son's sacrifice on my behalf, I in turn present my body to you as a living sacrifice. Thank you for deeming me holy and acceptable because of Christ's shed blood for me.

I pray that you would use me as your vessel to rescue others who are perishing. Through Christ who is Our Glory, Amen.

Heavenly Father,

How grateful we are for our own mothers who nurtured us in the womb and brought us into this world by Your grace. We pray for Your powerful love to be placed in the heart of every mother and father, that they may bless their children by being the kind of parents You have called them to be. Help them to understand the awesome responsibility they have to teach their children of You, and to help them to honor life and all Your creation. May each precious child be a child of love. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Abortion is murder and should be treated that way under the law — with the same penalties. The problem is worse than we know. Heck, we don’t even know how many “miscarriages” are really baby killings. We should treat the death of an unborn child the same way we would treat ANY sudden death. There should be at least a cursory investigation in each case to rule out foul play.

Agreeing with everything you have written. Sadly, many believe abortion is an appropriate birth control measure since it has the approval of the federal courts. God knows how much heartache and loss we could avoid by choosing life. His ways are always best, no matter what a civilization’s laws allow.

Divine Mercy and the Pro-Life Movement

Jesus, I Trust in You.

From the Eucharistic Apostles of the Divine Mercy:

A Universal Call to Mercy - The Beauty of Life and God’s Mercy

The entire world is convulsing in an atmosphere of catastrophic peril. In a collage of terrorism, religious division, plague, famine, war, pornography, homosexuality, abortion, stem cell research, euthanasia, and moral indifference with human cloning on the horizon, we as a humanity have hardened our hearts to the authority of God. We have rejected His laws and replaced them with our own. We must act to restore God’s authority over His creation and melt our hardened hearts.

On March 25, 2003, the Feast of the Incarnation of Christ in the womb of Our Blessed Mother, the Holy Father personally signed and granted to Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy a special Apostolic Blessing. Pope John Paul II encourages the whole world to join with ALL Eucharistic Apostles in recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet to “avoid Divine Chastisement,” and to eradicate the “culture of death” throughout the world. (Click here to see the pro-life Apostolic Blessing for those reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet.)

This “universal call to mercy” takes on monumental importance in fulfilling the mandate of Jesus Christ to St. Faustina Kowalska. Our Lord told her that, “Mankind will not have peace until it turns to trust to My mercy” (Diary of Saint Faustina, # 300). The timing of the Papal Blessing is apparent to those aware that we live in a world in desperate need of God’s Mercy. Christ Himself dictated the Divine Mercy Chaplet to St. Faustina as a prayer to God the Father; it is a Eucharistic prayer that mitigates God’s anger. We know from Sacred Scripture that Christ never forgave an unrepentant sinner, and we must ask for mercy humbly and obediently. The Holy Father wrote in the encyclical The Mercy of God, “The Church proclaims the truth of God’s mercy revealed in the crucified and risen Christ, and she professes it in various ways. Furthermore, she seeks to practice mercy towards mercy through people, and she sees in this an indispensable condition for solicitude for a better and ‘more human’ world, today and tomorrow. However, at no time and in no historical period - especially at a moment as critical as our own - can the Church forget the prayer that is a cry for the mercy of God amid the many forms of evil which weigh upon humanity and threaten it” (Dives in Misericordia, #VIII, Para 15).

When we approach our loving Father in obedience and offer the merits of His Son’s bitter Passion and death for our sins, He responds with an outpouring of grace. We have within our grasp the means of effectuating a great Miracle of Divine Mercy for the entire world. We must cooperate as a human race with the Divine Will of Our Father and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy as often as our station in life permits. Our Lord told St. Faustina, “Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy” (Diary, 687).

We must cooperate, and we must act; the outcome of this “Universal Call to Mercy” will be a great change of hearts in all of humanity. “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances” (Ezek 36:26-7). For it is in the heart where change must take place, and it is through trust in God that this action will take place. When we, as a human race, reach out to God with “childlike trust,” He will respond because He has promised us this that He would. Our Lord told St. Faustina, “The graces of My mercy are drawn by one vessel only, and that is - trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive” (Diary, 1578).

We are currently engaged in a spiritual battle for the hearts and souls of every person on earth. Our mission, like St. Faustina’s, is God and Souls. We will either live in a pagan world completely devoid of God and His authority, or we will live in a world where the Judeo-Christian ethic is the basis of moral and legal authority. As a nation, we have already seen the initial and gradual divorce of our society from anything that is of God. We need to act and address the issue, and the time to do so is now.

We ask that you assist our efforts and pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet at least once daily; pray it with childlike trust for all your intentions, and also for mothers contemplating abortion, the infants dying in the wombs, victims of euthanasia, stem cell research, cloning, and for a change in the hearts of our elected political leaders.

If you would like a prayer card with the Papal Blessing on the front and the Divine Mercy Chaplet on the back, or if you are involved in Respect Life or Project Rachel activities in your parish, please send us an e-mail with your name and address, and we will send you a beautiful full-sized copy of the Papal Blessing for your parish. We do ask that a donation of any size be made back to the ministry in order that we may continue our work.

Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy is a lay outreach ministry of the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception based in Stockbridge, MA. We have had the honor of receiving four separate Apostolic Blessings on our work from the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II. Please review other aspects of our website for information on our Divine Mercy cenacles, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the sick and dying during Eucharistic Adoration, and more. Today's email:

Here's where you can see the latest short video
report from the front lines of the 40 Days for Life
in Charlotte, North Carolina:

During the brief video, you'll hear from Protestants,
Catholics, a maternity home director, and you'll get
to meet Andrea -- a wonderful post-abortive woman
who, two years ago, helped us recognize that 40 Days
for Life was supposed to be a national effort.

You will really be inspired by this one:

Now for the BIG NEWS!

In the last few hours, 40 Days for Life reached a
major milestone, and I had to share it with you!

Through the grace and mercy of God -- and the
faithful prayers and fasting of well over 200,000
people standing vigil outside abortion facilities
-- an incredible miracle has taken place.

Starting with the first-ever 40 Days for Life
campaign in Bryan/College Station, Texas in 2004, and
continuing through the international 40 Days for Life
effort that is under way this fall, we now have
received cumulative reports of ...

... OVER 2,000 BABIES whose lives have been saved
from the tragedy of abortion!

Who knows what wonders each of these children will
bring to the world!

Two thousand children would be enough to fill at
least 80 classrooms. Two thousand children would be
enough to make up 180 teams of little soccer players
-- and just as importantly, 180 teams of soccer moms
-- women who will enjoy watching their children run
and jump and shout, blessings they would have never
known if they had fallen for the lies that are so
often disguised by the rhetoric of "choice."

Here's the story of just one of those 2,000 lives.

It was a stormy day at the 40 Days for Life vigil in
Bakersfield, California. Yet people ignored the wind
and rain as they stood and prayed outside the
abortion center.

A young woman from outside the Bakersfield area soon
arrived at the clinic for an abortion appointment.
She was already stressed out; the drive across the
mountains and through the storm left her in no mood
to listen to the Christians on the sidewalk.

She looked at the group, shouted profanities, and
told the vigil participants to leave her alone. One
of the people on the sidewalk told her that if she
thought the sky was dark, it was nothing compared to
the darkness abortion could bring into her life.

She ignored the words and walked in.

But the "simple procedure" she had come for turned
out not to be so simple -- and she might not be able
to have the abortion that day. She had come for the
abortion pill, but the staff said she lived too far
away to return to the clinic if any complications

When she learned that, she became even angrier at the
people praying out on the sidewalk -- she even went
back out to yell at them several times. Finally,
after she realized there would be no abortion, she
gave up and left the clinic.

But on her way out, the prayer supporters on the
sidewalk offered to pray with her. As they did, the
sun suddenly broke through the clouds and the sky
instantly became bright.

It was like a new day.

The vigil participants explained the situation to
Terri, one of the counselors, who helped arrange an
appointment for an ultrasound at the pro-life
pregnancy help center.

Terri could tell that the ultrasound had a
significant impact on the young woman. "I knew that
it was a good sign when I heard her talking to her
baby," she said.

After the ultrasound, Terri and the woman hurried
back to the vigil site. Bursting with joy, the woman
showed the prayer supporters the ultrasound picture
of the baby she had intended to abort, exclaiming
"your Jesus heard your prayers!"

in Bakersfield -- along with the young woman holding
the ultrasound image of her baby -- go to:

Job 12:10 ~ "In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind."

Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Merciful Father, may the sweet breath of the Holy Spirit fall upon each mother's heart, that she might know the babe within is the crown of God's creation.

The sooner we move to align our civil laws with Biblical law, the sooner America will reclaim her former glory.
