FBI: Gunshots Hit US Rep. DeFazio's Office Windows

October 30, 2009

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Three shots fired at a federal courthouse in Oregon late Wednesday or early Thursday hit windows in U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio's office, while a fourth shot hit a wall above the office, the FBI said.

No one was in the second-floor office at the time, and the Democratic congressman's staffers in Eugene found the damage when they arrived for work Thursday morning.

Investigators believe the shots were fired between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, FBI spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele said, adding they're not certain that DeFazio's office was the intended target.

''Right now, our biggest concern is determining why this happened,'' Steele said, adding the FBI doesn't know whether the shooter or shooters were trying to hurt anyone. ''We're obviously taking this very seriously.''

DeFazio spokeswoman Molly Simmons confirmed the congressman was in Washington, D.C., at the time.

He’s a liberal and they want to know why anyone would want to take a shot at him? The FBI should get the “Oh, Come Now” award for that one.

Not that I would ever want to shoot at anyone! Never! I’m not that kind of guy! Get that, FBI?

maybe the dems will off one of their own and then use them as a Wellstone type of hype to get extra protection for ALL of the senators and reps so the RINOS and conservative members cannot say anything after NANCY and REID ram the health care legislation through and OSAMA signs.

Who could protest more security if a beloved member of congress was offed?

I put NOTHING past the LIBERALS

They’ll blame right wing extremists.

Where were DeFazio’s staff between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday? Shooting at an empty office sounds like the sort of fake hate crime the left so loves to pull off to prove what wackos conservatives are.

I sense the more damaage they try to do the more of these signals or whatever it is are going to happen. I also think there’s a possibility that members of the administration may very well become targets. Communists who are actually screwing with liberties are not welcome even in D.C.
I think it is a matter of time.

DeFazio is safely on the other coast, and a feller fires four rounds at an empty building in the dark of night. Do you suppose the Representative might be wondering if the shooter was trying to tell him something? Something really important? Even vital to his health? Could it be, and will he listen as the noises get louder and closer?

I, of course, deplore such shocking — yes, shocking — behavior!

...the way I see it. It may be a trail balloon to see how people react. If the MSM don't play it up, or how far the investigation goes. Politico's like to play games...tit for tat. The danger...no reaction, up the ante. When headlines blare, it has it's effect.
It will all be to someones advantage....the way the media is today, there's a handicap already in place. Is DefazRat up for reelection?

Then-Representative Bernie Sanders was the convener and first. The founding members were concerned about the economic hardship imposed by the deepening recession, the growing inequality brought about by the timidity of the Democratic Party response at the time.

Additional House representatives joined soon, including Major Owens (D-NY), Nydia Velazquez (D-NY), David Bonior (D-MI), Bob Filner (D-CA), Barney Frank (D-MA), Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), Jim McDermott (D-WA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Patsy Mink (D-HI), George Miller (D-CA), Pete Stark (D-CA), John Olver (D-MA), Lynn Woolsey (D-CA), and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

...Right now, our biggest concern is determining why this happened...

It might have something to do with passing laws that are not wanted by the American people. It rerally would go better for everyone if the "representatives" actually represent.

I really hate to see tensions getting this bad. It doesn't really surprise me, though.

Yes; he considered a run at ORGov, but decided again' it when Bill Bradbury entered the race. Fuzzy is a shoo-in for re-election.
