Could be that the people who are against this are concerned about our gay population and the additional risk to them.
If there is anything really bad, Obama is all for it. Take that to the bank. But are the majority of American people for it? They don’t care, they don’t know, they watch MSM. Take that to the bank too.
And the Alinsky inspired chaos continues! Wheeeee!
Combating HIV/AIDS by letting infected people with HIV/AIDS in to the country? Nothing like it. BHO seriously needs a HIV/AIDS germ with his name on it...
...to teach him an agonizing lesson.
Right HERE, Right NOW!
Not necessarily. Someone who is HIV positive requires a hundred-fold more $ to treat their (ongoing and most likely permanent) condition than someone who comes here with no pre-existing conditions.
It’s remarkable. The Marxist Onada and his gang of angry commies are creating a crisis over swine flu that has killed maybe a few thousand world-wide. Meanwhile, they’re perfectly ok with letting HIV-infected people in the country. HIV ravages its victims and then kills them. It has killed millions.
As I’ve said many times ideology trumps facts and common sense every time with these people.
Oh, and what impact will allowing HIV-infected people into the country have on Onadacare and the taxpayer? And could this also be a ploy to increase demrat voter numbers? HIV came from Africa and has killed millions of those people in the last 20 years or so.
But I am not surprised Obama is lifting the HIV ban. Just one more way to flood our already flooded medical system.
Bush on World AIDS Day Issues Order to Lift Ban on HIV-Positive Foreigners Entering Country; Other World AIDS Day News
December 4, 2006
President Bush Friday on World AIDS Day issued an executive order to lift a provision of U.S. law that bans HIV-positive foreigners from entering the country without a special waiver, the San Francisco Chronicle reports (Russell, San Francisco Chronicle, 12/2). Congress in 1993 enacted legislation that prevented HIV-positive foreigners from obtaining visas or citizenship. According to the U.S. Department of State, if any foreigners traveling to the U.S., including people from countries not requiring visas, reveal that they have a “communicable disease of public health significance,” they are prevented from entering the country. The same rule applies to foreigners seeking permanent residence in the U.S. (Kaiser Daily HIV/AIDS Report, 11/22). The current law allows waivers to be issued so HIV-positive people can enter the country to attend special events. Under the new rule proposed by Bush, HIV-positive people would obtain a “categorical waiver” for business or tourist visas for visits of no more than 60 days. It is not clear whether visitors still would be required to declare their HIV status. HIV/AIDS advocates after the announcement praised Bush’s decision but called for all restrictions on HIV-positive immigrants to be lifted. “It’s a step away from a terribly discriminatory and inappropriate policy, but it doesn’t go far enough,” Physicians for Human Rights Executive Director Leonard Rubenstein said, adding, “If you want to remove stigma from AIDS, you have to go the whole distance and eliminate all restrictions on entry to the United States for people with HIV” (San Francisco Chronicle, 12/2).

Because those that get HIV usually do so through irresponsible behavior and they are likely to engage in that behavior, spreading HIV to US citizens?
The sexually promiscuous and IV drug users generally spread HIV. Who wants such types in this country engaging is such behavior and spreading HIV?
Nope, not one bit. I see someone removing an asinine regulation.
...and how is this a problem for someone with HIV wanting to vacation in the US and spend their Euros and then going back home?
You don’t want to give them longterm treatment...fine...deny them long term treatment...deny them longterm visas...but to deny entry for an undetectable and not very contageous disease is ludicrous.
Maybe not 25 years ago...but now?
A) Don’t be sexually promiscuous.
B) Don’t use IV drugs.
It’s moronic to let irresponsible people that spread HIV into the nation.
Yeah, but if they’re here and they’re gay and they start sleeping around with gay Americans, having unprotected gay sex, then the statistics for AIDS in Americans will go up as a result.
Of course not everyone with AIDS got infected via gay sex, but a not unsubstantial percentage gets infected that way all the time.
We don’t need high risk visitors, when we already have enough high risk of our own, as is.
...and how EXACTLY do you know which travellers are HIV+??
Ask?
Question: Are you HIV+?
Answer: No.
OK then...
Not only will this cost a fortune but it puts our population at greater risk for this TRANSMITTABLE disease.
