When MSNBC gave Ed Schultz a nightly segment entitled "Psycho Talk," it was apparently in obedience to the truth in advertising laws. On Thursday night, the low-rated host of "The Ed Show" used that segment -- which is supposed to highlight over-the-top rhetoric from conservatives -- to call Rush Limbaugh "a racist, pill-poppin' radio guy."
Schultz was outraged that Rep. Steve King, R-IA, had asked NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to apologize to Rush Limbaugh for denying Rush partial ownership of the St. Louis Rams while allowing Jennifer Lopez and Fergie to become co-owners of the Miami Dolphins after worse (read: actual) offenses. Schultz assaulted King and the talk show titan:

Big Ed then insulted Media Research Center and Newbusters.org founder Brent Bozell, alleging that the media had nothing to apologize for in its reporting about Rush Limbaugh:

Schultz's denial of reality and endless demonization of Bozell and Rush Limbaugh prove the depths of little Ed's Genius Envy. Let's examine....

As far as I can tell, Ed represents MSNBC’s views magnificently — part of the reason they have one-quarter of Fox’s viewership.

This guy is a redneck liberal. He makes me laugh trying to be a everyday Joe. I think he is ignorant and it shows. He tries to be ssooo intellectual but his dumbness is showing like a long slip under a mini skirt.
In a weird way, I feel sorry for Schultzie. He’s a desperate, sad, nothing of a guy. He screams, beats his chest, says off-the-wall stuff to get articles like this written about him, and it doesn’t matter. He cannot escape obscurity, no matter how hard he tries. It is his home. His personal hell.
You know it makes him violently angry. And you know he brings that rage home with him and fuels it with copious amounts of booze. I’m willing to bet his personal life is a nightmarish train-wreck that would make the average dysfunctional guy wince and look away.
We’ll be seeing him weeping before a judge after being found guilty of a violent crime, probably against a woman, before too long.
Mr. Ed should know that this kind of tactic just doesn’t work.
I thought he was a professional. Professional radio people never discuss programs on other stations.
This strategy just encourages the viewers he does have to switch channels to find out straight from the horse’s mouth what Limbaugh or whoever else’s he’s talking about is saying.

I saw Ed the other day...shrill...as if he never got over the playground wedgies he received in his youth.

You bet it would. A talking amoeba? A unicellular radio host doing "nonguested confrontation" would be way better than a talking dog, which is about what Geraldo is.

I remember when I first heard Schultz about five years ago, when Air America got going. He was so obviously the Anti-Limbaugh stylistically, but he didn't have the big-picture touch, just lots of anecdotes about what good work his Dem union buddies were doing fighting the good fight back in Racine. He didn't have a grand narrative or a coherent worldview, just a lunch-bucket attitude, and he didn't have the incisiveness and the political judgment. Which is okay, but I thought the Air America guys would know the difference.

Funny, they suddenly seem to be all over the place, and yet I couldn't think of anything potentially deader than an old-line Stalinist organization of any kind, 15-20 years ago.
I use to listen to him but he is not on any station in my area or XM when I listen.
