On Halloween 10 years ago today, EgyptAir Flight 990 nose-dived into the ocean off Nantucket from 33,000 feet, leaving the families of 217 children, grandparents and lovers forever haunted by the question: Why?

It is far from unclear to any pilot. The crazy Islamic co-pilot flew it into the ocean.
Chilling for me as I was on Egypt Air 990 one week before this flight went down.
Everyone knows exactly why this plane crashed. The presstitutes pretend not to know because the Egyptians refuse to admit that an Islamic pilot crashed the plane deliberately.

Exactly. Even at the time, it was clear to rational people that this was deliberate. The only thing in question--and I'm being generous here--was motive. Giving any latitude for tying oneself in knots to call it the isolated act of a despondent individual expired on Sept. 11, 2001. Continuing the charade 10 years later is laughable.
It also probably created the idea.. If a crazy Muslim would crash a plane into an ocean, why not get some even more crazy Muslims to take over a a plane and crash the plane into a city / building.. TaDa 9/11 plot hatched.

The first news of the crash indicated that flight 990 stopped at Nellis AFB to board about 30 Egyptian army officers who had participated in a joint training exercise. This information was deleted from all subsequent reports. My theory is that jihadists took the aircraft down to send a message to the Egyptian government.
I found an account of the accident that mentions the 33 Egyptian army officers:
Flight 990 was 100% proven to be an intentional act. Just because the Egypt govt. doesn’t accept the findings doesn’t make it any less so. The govt. of Egypt acted like a man convicted of murder who was dragged from the courtroom screaming “I’m innocent!”.
Not only did every piece of evidence(cockpit recordings, black box, etc) point to First Officer Gameel Al-Batouti crashing the plane intentionally, but there not a SINGLE piece of evidence that pointed towards ANY other possible cause. Not one.
Instead of doing the morally right thing and accepting the NTSB findings, the Egyptian govt simply said “no way!” and refused to accept this. They went into a state of chronic denial.
The US, in trying to be “PC” and keep some diplomacy, caved a bit and modified the findings wordings so as to leave a little wiggle room.
A very shameful thing.
To this day, it remains one of the worst mass murders in US history.

Actually, the NTSB’s finding were put in a rather vague language as stated in their 2002 report:
“The NTSB determines that the probable cause of the EgyptAir flight 990 accident is the airplane’s departure from normal cruise flight and subsequent impact with the Atlantic Ocean as a result of the relief first officer’s flight control inputs. The reason for the relief first officer’s actions was not determined.”
This is why the Egyptions refused to accept that the relief first officer dived the plane deliberately.
It was a deliberate act of terrorism which the NTSB failed to defined as such.
The conspiracy obsessed Arabs claimed that it was an act by the CIA to get rid of the 32 Egyptian officers on board!

''So little can be said to relieve their pain.''But I just remember thinking it odd that the people who were on that plane were on that plane. Since then, I've once been on a flight into Amman on JordanAir that had half a dozen black hats on it so maybe it wasn't so unusual.
Today, knowing little more about the crash than they did when they arrived in Rhode Island last week, the victims' families sought solace in rituals of faith and symbols of grief. They gathered in a tent near the water at Brenton Point State Park and participated in an interfaith service with Christian, Jewish and Muslim clergy members.
