Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says Congress’ federal stimulus program has saved or created 8,356 jobs in the University of California system, a claim that comes as a surprise at UC Irvine, Orange County’s largest employer.
“We can’t figure out where the governor’s office got the data to support saying 34,000 jobs have been saved in the CSU and UC systems. No such data has been forwarded by our campus to the state,” said Cathy Lawhon, director of media relations at UCI.
“Basically, the state cut to the UC system was $815 million. The stimulus money totaled about $700 million, which didn’t quite make up the difference. And what remains to be seen is, since that $700 million was a one-time shot in the arm, what happens in the next fiscal year?
“It is accurate to say we (UCI) have laid off several dozen people.”

Even if these jobs were actually created or saved, they’re still taxpayer supported revenue drains.

Before recovery.org updated their numbers California was at 2,260 jobs saved (Updated 10/10)
After recovery.org updated their numbers yesterday afternoon California is now at 110,185 jobs saved.

How in the hell do you determine how many jobs were “Saved” in the State or across the country? This is a bunch of BS and should be shown as just that.
Obozo should take a lesson in Clintoneque spin and call it a “projected jobs surplus”

Has anyone asked them to break it down? How many were saved and how many were created? If they really had the numbers they would be able to answer that question. It is such a weasel ad man type of statement. As consumers Americans should see that.
and we have already changed our withholding.......they can go ‘blank’ themselves.
