In NY-23 There Are Four Who Deserve Tremendous Credit

Lots of people want credit for Dede Scozzafava dropping out today.

I feel like I have had a view from the inside. Lots of people are trying to give me credit for rallying the base since last July for Hoffman, but from my vantage point, there are four that are being overshadowed by Pataki, Pawlenty, and Palin, but who genuinely and truly deserve a hell of a lot more credit than most.

Please though, remember these four:

1. Susan B. Anthony List. First in and last out, they have been under the radar for months. Before the tea party activists. Before the cavalcade of politicians from Palin to Pawlenty to Perry, there was Susan B. Anthony.

2. Fred Thompson. He made this race his personal crusade. He has helped bring in talent and endorsements, putting his own reputation on the line.

3. Club For Growth. A group that many see as a front for the GOP has given the GOP a solid black eye and elevates fiscal conservatism to the forefront of the fight to save America.

4. Jon Henke. Jon came in to little fanfare or notice and helped rally conservative activists online for Hoffman. Many people did not realize until recently that Jon was even helping Hoffman. But he did. He’s done great work. We don’t always see eye to eye on issues, but make no mistake — a lot of people will be quicker to recognize the above three than Jon, but Jon has played a critical and vital role.

One honorable mention: Dave Keene at ACU. Dave raced into this race almost immediately. . . .

Pats on the back starting already. Good behind the scenes look into the buildup of support for Doug.

Kudos to all involved. Our tent IS big, but we have a common glue that holds us all together; Love of country BECAUSE of the constitution. Not self guided interest.

Keep this momentum going. There are more fights to win! Thanks to all for the shot heard round the teaparties!!!!!

Shouldn’t DailyKOS get huge credit for endorsing the Republican? That has to get a lot of credit for the massive shift in the polls. Kiss of death!

Well, the momentum is building for a true Conservative voice in today’s politics and I think it’s on a real roll, something people can get behind and support. It’s about time the RINO’s start to pay attention to the voices of the people. Hurrah, for the effort, no matter the outcome.

Conspicuously absence which is another serious large black mark on their records. Leaders lead, not hide in the weeds

Romney and Huck both refused to endorse either side. They both voted “present.”

I’m sure you’re shocked—I know I was. :)

Don't forget Gary Bauer and Glen Beck. I heard many pro-life, pro traditional marriage commericials endorsing Hoffman on the radio around here sponsored by Gary Bauer. He is the only one who mentioned the fact that Dede is pro-abortion on a political ad that I have heard in the area.

I’m sure Newt’s (justifiably) embarrassed.

They are sitting on the fence waiting to see which way the wind is blowing. I suspect they will make a statement now that it is safe. Both of these guys want to make decisions for us in the White House. This is a lesson in guts and fortitude and both failed. Newt cut his own throat and lost all his blood (and integrity).

Fred Thompson certainly deserves praise and credit for supporting the conservative EARLY on in the NY-23 race, and Huck was wrong to stay neutral, but let's always remember politicians overall records.

Whether most freepers want to accept it or not, Huck's gone to bat for conservatives over RINOs in high profile races alot more than Fred. In fact, this is the first major campaign where I've seen Fred throw his support to the conservative maverick INSTEAD of the so-called "electable" RINO establishment candidate. In past campaigns he's usually backed the RINO (Chafee over Laffey, McCain over Bush & Keyes, Simmons over Caligiuri & Schiff, etc.)

If Fred's seen the light and is going to back conservatives from now on, I welcome his support. So let's find out.

The next major hurdle is stopping Charlie Crist is Florida. Huckabee has vocally endorsed Rubio and helped fund his campaign. So.... what's Fred got to say about that one?

A lot of credit has to go to Sarah. Until she endorsed Hoffman, 95% of the country didn’t know about this race - including me.

Doug Hoffman will owe her a big gift basket come Tuesday.

That's Newt.

He's way too mercurial and flippant.

Not the first time he's done something like this and it won't be the last.

But, he's gonna pay a big price this one.

No matter how the Huckabee supporters try to spin, the fact remains Huckbee failed to lead. So far his record indicates he is a CINO. Absent when the chips are down and leadership needs to be shown. Sorry but anyone who advocates a nation wide public smoking ban is not a Conservative at heart.
