Funeral services for Arshon Baker, the 5-year-old Cleveland boy who police said died after his mother beat him for tugging on her dress, will be Tuesday at the Highland Church of Christ, 27495 Highland Road, Richmond Heights.
The 10 a.m. wake will be followed by a funeral at 10:30. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Cleveland.
Services were delayed while family members tried to raise money to cover the costs. They have set up the Arshon Baker memorial fund and are asking that donations to help the family be made at any FirstMerit Bank branch.
Arshon, a quiet kindergartner who loved cartoons, hamburgers and french fries, has two sisters. Family members said they are in the custody of the Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services.
His mother, Angel Glass, 24, is in jail on $1 million bond, charged with aggravated murder in his Oct. 24 death. The man she lived with, Larry Wanzo, has been charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the case. His bond is $250,000.
Arshon was born in 2004, while his mother was in prison.
He died of blunt force trauma to the head, trunk and extremities, according to the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office.
Police have said the boy's body was covered with burns, bruises and new and healed cuts.
God rest him.

Yes, a pattern emerges with the ubiquitous “live in boyfriends” it seems. Self centered, immoral many of these arrangements are the haven for criminally minded, sex addicts who have children as the result of illicit encounters, and who become burdens to these decadent parents. I believe this little five year old is now playing at the throne of God with no memory of what occurred, and that his evil mother will find the inevitable millstone a very heavy yoke to bear.

This child and his sisters should have been removed from that home a long time ago if he’s got old cuts, bruises and burns on his body! Where the heck were his teachers and/or doctors?
What does that have to do with anything? He wasn’t the one who did it, she did.

This is my personal experience with many inner city women. They’re HIGHLY abusive to their children to the point where you knew if they weren’t protected by black privilige, they’d be jailed for child abuse and never see their children again.
The truth of the mattter is that children’s services in Ohio is terrible. They only seem concerned about removing kids who parents can afford to pay for foster care, otherwise the kids stay with Mom and live with what kid of life she gives them. Unfortunatley for this little one his Mom was/is a monster.
This innocent child now rests in perpetual peace in the loving and comforting arms of God.

I see that comment expressed by more and more people who see it on a daily basis in their jobs and associations.

And STILL, our “justice” system won’t sterilize her.

Probably a factor. However, in this particular case it appears the mom did the beating and the boyfriend was an accessory, reversing the usual pattern.

I was thinking today that I WISH we could see “news” about people doing good and wonderful things and escape from acknowledging these evil among us who get their pics all over the news and think they are popular at last.
I would hope posters who accuse childless couples of being selfish would keep stories like this in mind.
Well, since I’m one of THEM, I’m paying attention.
