Michael Caine switches allegiance to Conservatives

British film icon Sir Michael Caine has abandoned his support of the Labour party and announced he will vote Conservative at the next general election.

The actor, 76, a former Labour supporter, condemned the “terrible state” that has been allowed to develop in Britain and said he planned to change his allegiance at the next election.

For his latest film, Harry Brown, about violence on Britain’s streets, Sir Michael spent time with a gang from a tough inner London estate, who were hired as extras.

More and more people, especially those who hold some traditional values, are abandoning the liberals and the left as they finally realize how the left has debased western culture.

He’s done tons of liberal movies, Alfie, one of the worst, but he was fabulous in Sleuth.

Did you see the new Sleuth where he plays the old man instead of Tindle? I didn’t think it was as good as the first version but it was an interesting twist.

Oh..I forgot....go Caine, stick it to the liberals.

No, I haven’t, who played Tindle? Sleuth is one of my favorites. If you haven’t already, you should check out Cary Grant’s Arsenic and Old Lace. It’s in that genre.

I have seen Arsenic and Old Lace, great movie!

I don’t know who played Tindle. They have the new Sleuth on netflix and it should say on their site.

Michael Caine was also great in “Second Hand Lion” along with Duvall.

Earlier this year, he bitterly criticised the government’s decision to raise the upper tax rate to 50p, saying he would leave the country if it went any higher

At the end of the day even the looniest of libs understand self interest.

Old movie buffs are annoying.... :) Those movies are so much better than the junk they do today. My hubby has been recording from TCM, we have over 1200 movies. O haven’t seen Second Hand Lion, I’ll look forward to that one.

According to Imbd, Jude Law is Tindle. Plus the entire cast is listed. *wink wink*

Years and years ago, back in the hippy days, when I was in my early 20’s, and living in Chicago, I was with a friend and we were slumming in a part of Chicago that is known as Old Town (where all the bohemian and artist types lived). There was a little shopping area called Piper’s Lane (right near where the original Second City theatre was located) with assorted shops with artsy and hippy type stuff in them.

My friend and I went in one of the shops and were rummaging around. Suddenly an entourage of about 4-5 people came in the door of the shop, with a very tall blond man in their midst. It was Michael Caine in all his glory. This was during his Alfie days, and boy was he good looking. Seemed a bit arrogant, or just very sure of his attractiveness back then, rather quiet, and they awept thru the store and exited. I must say that was one hunk of a man back then.

He told a Sunday newspaper: “It's a big problem. The country is getting more and more violent and this film is a wake-up call, a warning to us all.

“I'll probably vote Conservative. I mean, we're in a terrible state whichever way you look at it, socially, financially and politically, so just give the other guy a chance.

When someone who is so fantastically wealthy and internationally famous, has a name and a face that is known in most households of the civilized world, and someone who has the ability to insulate himself from a great many of the day-to-day troubles that the rest of us face decides to make such a radical and public change in his allegiances then I think that it's worth taking note of.

One naturally wonders how many lesser-known actors and celebrities will be quietly cheering him on and will be privately voting along with him, but will be terrified of making their views public for fear of being ostracized by the Leftist film and entertainment 'culture'.

Alfie isnt a liberal film, in fact its the opposite.

It was one of the few 60’s films to show actions have consequences, most famously the abortion scene.

Alfie is one of those subtle films that people didnt and dont pick up on.

The problem in Britain with the Tories is that they act like RINOS. They are not conservative in the classic sense. They’re just a little less liberal.

Harry Brown could a cracker of a film.

Indeed!  I am truly looking forward to seeing it, something that I don't say too often for movies anymore these days.

It's slated for a UK release on November 13 and a US release on November 6, so it won't be too long of a wait.

The trailer looks thrilling, and although it may have some plot similarities to Charles Bronson's Death Wish the entirely different setting and of course Michael Caine's always-superb acting will undoubtedly make it a completely different and thoroughly memorable filmgoing experience.

I confess that I have only seen a tiny fraction of his 140-plus movies and I'm no 'serious film student' but only an average 'entertainment consumer' but I must say that I can't recall ever seeing a Michael Caine movie that I truly disliked.  He has a tremendous sense of dramatic timing and he owns any scene he's in by virtue of his unique presence and demeanor.  He can play the most ruthless and vicious cold-blooded killer or the kindest and nicest man on Earth, and he would be believable in either role.  He's truly a master of his craft.

He was great, the perfect casting choice, in the Batman films. He’s had such a successful career that I’m sure he doesn’t ‘need’ to work anymore, and he does so because he enjoys what he does, and it really shows.
