Lifelong Republican(RINO) throws support to Democrat Owens

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., was among those who urged Dierdre K. Scozzafava to endorse Democratic congressional candidate William L. Owens, the senator's spokesman said Saturday.

The spokesman, Maxwell Young, said the senator called a number of north country political leaders after Ms. Scozzafava suspended her campaign and had more than one conversation with the Republican candidate ahead of her announcement. He said the senator also called other Democratic leaders about the situation, including White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Mr. Owens said he was “honored” by the endorsement.

“Over the course of her career, Dede has always committed to serving the people of Upstate New York before serving a partisan agenda,” he said in a statement. “Now more than ever we need bipartisan solutions,,,,

If we really want to do the damage, we just need to float the idea around that Dede was offered a safe seat and sold out to the Dems when she knew she was losing, this wasnt a sudden decision, Dede has been planning this for weeks.

If you look at what this liberal rag wrote, it doesn’t match the headline. Hoffman didn’t say it, one of his staffers did.

“Just hours before [Scozzafava] endorsed the Democrat, she received calls from Barack Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. She also received calls from the Chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Senator Chuck Schumer,” Issa wrote. “Was Scozzafava promised something in return for her endorsement of the Democrat? Time will tell.”

Democrats, however, questioned the merits of Issa’s statement. A spokesperson at the DSCC this evening corrected the congressman’s line — Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) now heads the organization, not Schumer — and noted that the DSCC was not playing a role in the House race.

I am beginning to think she was. They got McHugh out with a plan to run Dede and Owens which would have been a win for them either way.

Bless Doug Hoffman for coming along and throwing a monkey wrench in the works.

I got slammed in a previous thread for saying that Dede would throw her weight to the left after she dropped out. I also got slammed for telling the RNC to take a hike because their support for Hoffman was a day late and a dollar short.

Now THEY are looking like a bunch of clowns. Scazawhatshername is what we said she was. Nothing but a lefty in a righty cloak.

Be gone RNC. Leave the Conservative party, and conservatives for that matter, alone. I think we can handle it from here.

You really appeal to the paranoid in me Ben. Knowing as I do (if only by my study of history) that the left is conspiratorial by nature, I very often wonder if many of the fruit-loops presently in the GOP are not moles. It’s also comforting to know that even if we’re wrong, they’re still A**holes.

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., was among those who urged Dierdre K. Scozzafava to endorse Democratic congressional candidate William L. Owens...

Call it unscrupulous if you must, but why is it that we never hear of Republicans urging Democrats to cross over? Why is it the Democrats who "reach across the aisle" with their right hand, while holding the knife in their left hand?

We get Lindsey Graham bragging about working with Democrats to change the tone and get things done instead of continuing to oppose their agenda, while we get Democrats conspiring with Republicans to undermine their elections.

Who's pressuring Lieberman to switch parties? Are there other Democrats who are secretly disgusted with their party who need only a little bit of nudging to make the switch?

Are Republicans afraid of being seen as "luring" Democrats over because they're afraid it might be considered unseemly?

You mean the Democrate lite endorsed the Democrat? Shocking...

Funny how if you run two Democrats one of them always wins...

So now there’s an actual choice between a Democrat and a conservative, what a concept... Now we see what happens.

Privately, he must be sneering at her as are the rest of the Democrats. Turncoats have no honor and cannot bestow honor. Nobody likes them or, more importantly, trusts them.

Are Republicans afraid of being seen as "luring" Democrats over because they're afraid it might be considered unseemly?

Its because the GOP can't offer much. Emanuel and Schumer can make offers some people can't refuse. Aside from pointing out their media will destroy a person (how many people will put their family through what the Palin's experienced in just over two months last year?), they have their billionaire handlers, union bosses and outright criminals to muscle people. They got all the carrots and all the sticks they need to make even well intentioned people give it up.

Emanuel has another cooking right now. Linda McMahon is "running" against Chris Dodd on the GOP ticket. She's donated to Rahm. She knows and likes his brudder she says. Yeah right. She's either afraid of her wrestling empire taking a hit or wants more money.
