Wal-Mart announces second round of toy price cuts

By: Reuters | 02 Nov 2009 | 12:23 AM ET Text Size

By Nicole Maestri

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Monday announced its second round of price cuts on toys as the world's biggest retailer backs up its intention to be the "price leader" this holiday shopping season.

U.S. Walmart stores are cutting prices on 100 toys, like the Buzz Lightyear talking action figure and Star Wars light sabers, by roughly 20 percent to 30 percent.

The cuts are in addition to ones the retailer implemented at the end of September, when it began selling 100 toys for $10 each

Oh and their products come from “CHINA”.

Back when Sam Walton was alive and running Wal-Mart he used to run commercials bragging about how Wal-Mart sold mostly American made goods. Times have definitely changed......

Got one of those “spanish WalMart’s” here too. The help all speak spanish and there is a policeman there all the time. No need for cops in the other two WM’s with the driving radius.

I think I will go to my local Target store today and see if they carry anything MADE IN CHINA!

Americans want decent products at low prices. Until we change our minds on that, China will continue to make competing products, which will find their way to store shelves and we will continue to choose whether or not to buy them.

I agree but to be truthful, "Christ" has been out of Christmas for a very long time and cannot be blamed on a retail operation in the smallest way.

I simply don't participate in it.

And yes, I don't blame Wal-Mart, but I DO SEE THEM as a contributor to the cultural subversion within the welfare plantation, of which Sodom Hussein Obama is their lawn jockey.

...a distraction away from the Christian idea of salvation ...

... Merry f-ing X-mas! ..

I'm not sure that is a good testimony for a Christian? Actually, I'm pretty sure it isn't!

Kay Bee Toys deserved to go out of business. They were way too high, their aisles were about a foot wide because of all the stuff stacked in them and the screaming kids and their pushy parents are too much. What a crappy shopping experience.

"And yes, I don't blame Wal-Mart, but I DO SEE THEM as a contributor..."

WM and others like it have a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders to legally maximize the profits of the company. For them to do anything to cause them to earn less than was possible would be an abrogation of this responsibility and could lead to a shareholder lawsuit.

Some time ago WM along with other retailers began telling their employees to avoid saying Merry Christmas because they feared it would offend some and therefore cost them sales. When they realized the exact opposite was happening and saying Happy Holidays instead WAS costing them sales they went back to wishing the customers a Merry Christmas.

In the business world it is all about bottom line and long as it is done legally it is fine wit me. If the are people who are not happy with the laws as they are then the ought to work at getting them changed.

On a personal level the thought of a Currier and Ives Christmas Literally brings tears to my eyes and I would love to again experience Christmas (I am 67 years old) as I remember it as a child. I, to this day can get misty eyed listening to the traditional Carols song by vocalists of the 40's and 50's, but I am also a realist and understand that living in the past serves little purpose. It is fun to remember though.

Which one? Was it the one where you talked like a tough guy, or the one where you tried to talk like a tough guy?

Got one of those “spanish WalMart’s” here too.

On any given trip to the Walmart half a mile from my house I'll usually hear 5 or 6 different language spoken.

But if you want to trade insults, that's fine by me - - I'll drive you out of the temple like Yeshua did to the money changers in the Bible...

What are you smoking? That isn't an insult, FRiend, it is an ignorant rant. The temple is in our hearts and minds. You can't drive Jesus out of my heart, and using fancy names doesn't secure a position.

Take your meds, and go back to sleep!
