Why the mystery?:

Q. The president’s progress with the battered economy has been both praised and criticized. How well are his efforts measuring up with you?

* Extremely well. We are undoubtedly moving in the right direction.
* Fairly well. There’s still a long way to go.
* Not well at all. His plans are hurting more than helping.
* Not sure/No opinion.

"You're all windup and no pitch. Why didn't you post the question?"

The way a poll works is that you have to go to the actual website and indicate and answer preference. That is why I gave the link and an auto que to help people participate.

Reading a poll on this text page does not allow one to participate. If you go to #2 above and click on the red hyperlink you will see how it works.

You gotta love this...is there any way this could be weighted or discounted? It seems that it is straightforward and I can’t see how the sampling can be skewed...I assume it reaches both land line (older folks) and wireless phone users (younger folks) and the whole range of people who have telephones?

This looks like it should, in other words...the roughly 30% of fruitcakes who will support this idiot no matter what he does,,,and the rest of us...

It seems that it is straightforward and I can’t see how the sampling can be skewed...

There are two positive responses and only one negative. If they didn't want the poll to be skewed, they could have given one less positive response, or one more negative response.

That's just my take on it, though.

Nope, just annoyed that Baynative couldn’t add one more line to his post.

I wouldn’t question whether he was too lazy to do that, but I wonder why he didn’t go the extra millimeter and post it here rather than making us leave FR just to find out if it was a question we even cared about.

FWIW, after I found out, I Freeped it.

Odd that the percentage of undecided is so low...

Too lazy to click a link, or your hearts are too weak to endure the suspense? Unbelievable.

Too annoyed that the poster couldn't bother to do just a little more copying and pasting. If it wasn't important to tell me what the question was, it probably isn't important enough for me to click through to it. It wasn't like AT&T/Yahoo is on the must excerpt list. Even when excerpting, too many people post the trivial introduction rather than the key paragraph of an article.

I'm also annoyed by people who post "Watch this great video" but don't give a hint on what is in it or why I should watch it.

If you post the question then people don’t have to click on the link in order to decide if they want to participate. This is just a cheap trick in order to get people to go there. The way it works in a free society is that you give the facts and the people decide if they wish to visit said site. Got it?

Exactly. Polls do that all the time. They report the two favorable (or negative) responses as a total against the one response they want to downplay. That’s pretty much how Obama maintains his approval ratings in other polls. The “somewhats” are used selectively to bolster the strong sentiment category.

But, evidently, not even that ploy can help out Obama on this poll.

Slightly less than one-third voting in this poll still support Obama;they are no doubt the communists and the true racists in this country.Communism is a religion of faith whose deluded believers will always think it will work if just done correctly;the fact that communism has never worked, and produces enormous suffering ,just doesn’t mean anything to them.

I'm sorry, but what kind of "Free Society" are you talking about. You should have the ability to decide for yourself whether or not to visit a website or read a question.

Isn't it usually the liberals that need everything decided for them by someone else and have to be warned about everything from bottle caps to envelope glue?
