Voting as a Republican in Pittsburgh can be depressing.
Often there is nobody on my side of the ballot to even consider. Today there were a few minor offices where not even a DEMOCRAT was running! So I suppose some whack-job who can get his mom and girlfriend to write in his name could land himself in some minor position of power.
If this situation continues we could be laying ourselves wide-open for some sort of ACORN inspired coup.
I did make it a point to get out and vote for Joan Orie Melvin for PA Supreme Court, even though she is a bit of a RINO. If that seat goes Democrat the Dems will have a 5-4 majority, and we will be wide-open to all of these games they play in places like Mass. and NJ to tilt the table.
A Democrat SC will just rubber-stamp it all like they do in those states.

In case anyone is interested in going to the Michele Bachmann road trip to DC from Pittsburgh this Thursday, the following info was e-mailed to me today:
Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) is calling on a major visit to the Capitol—a “House” Call to stand up against the Healthcare Bill that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama are slamming at mach speed thru both houses of Congress. She’d like everyone to meet on the steps of the Capitol Building at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009.
Our Bus Company has agreed to offer a bus(es) for this trip to DC. It is very short notice and so we need you all to STEP UP! If ever you rallied to a cause, now is the time!
You MUST email our bus company for a seat reservation. Do not do this if you think you just might want to go. Do this ONLY if you are making a confirmed reservation and do this NOW, IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT WAIT!!! We need a minimum of 35 people for a bus.

The cost is $49.00 and it includes the permit for the bus in DC and the gratuity for the bus driver.
This time, we will not be riding the metro. The bus driver will take us in as close to the Capitol Building as possible!
We are leaving at 5:00 a.m. (DO NOT BE LATE!), from the Ross Town Center (Strip Mall), across from Ross Park Mall on McKnight Road (enter at the Wendy’s). We will be low in the parking lot as close to McKnight as possible at the most southern end of the mall.
There will be one convenience stop both directions.
Our return will be tentatively around 10:00 p.m.
