There is a Protestant culture that was founded on a vilification of Rome and all things Catholic, including Catholics. One need only look at the historic treatment of Catholics at the hands of the "Reformers" and their followers. From the religious wars and Protestant Inquisition (yes there was one) to the religious conquest of Scotland and Ireland by Cromwell. When a sect has practiced or preached that being a Roman Catholic was deserving of the death penalty in the name of Sweet Baby Jesus it will have effects for generations.
I reiterate: May Christ increase, at the cost of every thing else.
I’m not thin-skinned. I think it’s simply over the top for someone on FR to accuse Christians of engaging in bestiality.
The founder of FR is a Christian, the site has traditionally been friendly toward Christians, and DogBarkTree’s childish anti-Christian vulgarity just doesn’t belong here. Doesn’t contribute to any kind of reasonable conversation.
“May Christ increase, at the cost of every thing else.”
Why must there be a cost? Is Christianity a zero-sum game?
And John Calvin, John Knox, and Martin Luther.
I agree that it is vile and reprehensible, but it says far more about DogBarkTree than about Christians.
Again, I’m simply reiterating the sentiments of John the Baptist. I’m not introducing any new doctrine here. May Christ be lifted up, and consequently draw all people to Himself.
It actually says more about your ignorance, that you don’t understand the intended meaning of that photo.
BTW, what’s the intended meaning of your tag-line?
My tagline is taken from John 3:30, where John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” The point is that my passion is to see Christ promoted, rather than any particular denomination; Christ saves people, not institutions.
This is consistent with what Jesus said in John 12:32: “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” May we magnify Christ, lifting Him up rather than other things.
