Former Cabell Co. Magistrate Candidate Arrested Again For Drug Possession (West Virginia Democrat)

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Former Cabell County Magistrate Candidate Amy Walker Irwin, formerly known as Amy Daugherty, was arrested Sunday night and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

According to the criminal complaint, Irwin was in her car outside a "known crack house" on 17th Street and Dalton Avenue in Huntington when officers approached the car and saw a small piece of apparent crack in plastic next to the gear shifter.

The complaint goes on to say Lt. J.T. Combs conducted a field test on the substance and it tested positive for the presence of cocaine.

Magistrate Dan Goheen did not allow cameras, or family members in the room for the arraignment, saying he did not want to create any more of a scene.

Irwin's father, a former Cabell County Circuit Judge, and other family members waited in the hallway during the arraignment.

Irwin was charged with a Misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance and allowed to leave with her family.

In 2008, just weeks before voters were set to go to the polls, Irwin, who was considered a shoe-in to become a magistrate, was arrested on six felony drug counts and one count of bribery.

Five of those drug charges were later dismissed.

It’s a shame what’s happened to Huntington. That used to be a pretty town.

Morgana, I was born there at Cabel County Howpital before it was demolished.
At one time when I was about 3 I lived across the stree from Marshalls stadium in one of those hideous two story brick apts.
Glad my family got out when they did BUT I’ve been back many times and it still is beautiful.

Just sitting on the banks of the river and watching the barges going by.

I went to Marshall University.....I wish Marshall would buy up all of Huntington and just put in school/dorm/whatever buildings all over the place.

that would help get rid of the crack house on 17th Street and Dalton Avenue, and the millions around the neighborhood.........

I cannot find a hotdog like Frostop anywhere else in the world. My brother has them shipped to himself in SC.

It’s not just Huntington,
There are hopeless young folks all over with no skills, and nothing to look forward to.
They lose whatever ambitions or dreams they have and turn to dope.
Sad.
