The Republican party in Kentucky has never seen anything like it.
Bowling Green eye doctor Rand Paul has no political experience, but with the support of the same people who backed his Dad - Texas Congressman Ron Paul when he ran for president,, Rand Paul has now at least pulled even with Secretary of State Trey Grayon in the GOP U.S. Senate primary.
32% Grayson
35% Paul

In fact, the WHAS11/Survey USA poll has Paul ahead of Grayson by three percentage points - with a 4.1 percent margin of error. While Grayson is down five from our

Very encouraging!
RINO’s are Whigs with no hair!
BAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was PRICELESS! LMAO! I have to pass that one on to my Politics Prof! LMAO
Dr. Paul believes life begins at conception. He recognizes the most basic function of government is to protect life. It is unconscionable that government would facilitate the taking of innocent life. Dr. Paul opposes any federal funding for abortion.
Dr. Paul does not support amnesty. Those who come here should respect our laws. Dr. Paul supports legal immigration and recognizes that the country has been enriched by those who seek the freedom to make a life for themselves.
Good. We need more small-l libertarian candidates who have their heads on straight on these issues, instead of being for open borders and "woman's choice."

Took me forever to find this info, but the Republican primary is May 18th, 2010.
When I’ve looked at the poll numbers, it seems that the more that people discover who Rand Paul is the more that they like him. This is most encouraging, because the same can’t be said of Grayson.
If he’s a nutty two-faced lying hypocrite like his mental midget father, then he needs to shut the hell up and stay out of politics.
And the PROOF of your assertions that Ron Paul is a “two-faced, lying hypocrite” and a “mental midget” is where, exactly? Besides in the deepest recesses of your “mind,” I mean. Ron Paul is and has been, as near as I can tell, a MOST HONORABLE man ever since he served (yes, unlike Obambi) as a flight surgeon in the Air Force, through his practice as an ObGyn, delivering thousands of babies and not ONE abortion, to his service in Congress where he regularly introduces his bill to define life as beginning at conception and then denying the Federal Courts any more jurisdiction over the subject. He was the first Congressman to endorse Reagan for President in 1976, by the way.
Your derangement concerning Ron Paul is ill-conceived and misguided, based on the FACTS.
...Bravo, dcw. I’m in agreement with yer...
In a SUSA poll of the KY Senate race, Rand Paul is slightly ahead of Trey Grayson (with 18% undecided) among likely GOP primary voters. However, Paul does about 5% worse than Grayson (and the Democrat does 4%-5% better against Paul than against Grayson) in the general-election matchups against either of the two likely Democrat nominees, Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo and AG Jack Conway. That 9%-10% swing could be the difference between holding Sen. Bunning’s seat and having the RAT capture it, as Grayson leads Conway by 4% and Mongiardo by 10% while Paul trails Conway by 5% and is dead even with Mongiardo. http://davidwissing.com/?p=10343
I know that there are lots of reasons to like Rand Paul, even for those of us who aren’t exactly fans of his father, but we can’t ignore the importance of our nominee being able to win the general. Kentucky is for the most part a populist state, and if Rand Paul isn’t the type of Republican that does well statewide in KY then that’s got to be part of the equation.
From what I’ve read Trey Grayson is solidly conservative on social issues, is fairly good on economic issues, and is not an isolationist on foreign affairs (I don’t know if Rand Paul shares his father’s view on military interventions abroad, but if he does that would hurt Paul among (traditionally hawkish) Kentucky voters), which makes him what Kentuckians would call a “solid Republican.” Sure, Grayson is a former Democrat, but found that his conservative positions were no longer as acceptable even among KY Democrats as they had been when he came of age.
But if I’m wrong and Grayson is a liberal RINO, I’d like to hear some facts that point to that. If Trey Grayson is a liberal, then, assuming that Grayson and Paul were the only two candidates with a chance of winning the primary, I would support Paul even if it reduced our odds of winning the seat. (But if Grayson were a liberal and Rand a full-blown libertarian, both views out of touch with a majority of KY Republicans, I would suspect that a third candidate with views closer to the median of KY Republicans would enter the race.)
I’m sure the RNC would rather endorse the Democrat than back the conservative. GO RAND !
nice
I’ve seen nothing so far to indicate Grayson is some odious Lindsay Graham replica, and too many here forget he has won statewide twice (and in ‘07 under VERY difficult circumstances given he had a toxic Gov. Ernie Fletcher at the top of the ticket), which is a big plus in his favor. Way too many PaleoPaultards around here hell-bent-for-leather to get Junior the nomination, despite the fact he has an excellent shot of losing the general.
I don’t know what to think about Trey Grayson. I’ve heard differing stories about him. He was a Bill Clinton delegate in 1992, but he was only 21 at the time. Some have said he’s a RINO, others a good conservative. Because he’s never been a legislator, there is no voting record to refer to.
As for Rand Paul, I have nothing in particular against him. I rather like the idea of Republicans with Libertarian perspective being elected. Paul’s electability is unclear right now. He could turn out to be very appealing to the electorate, but that’s far from guaranteed.
Paul has been tied or ahead of Mongiardo in the general election polls and within the MOE of Conway. He can win.
Proof?
How about blaming America for 9/11 as he did in the debates.
How about being all for term limits, but running for office time and time again.
How about saying that he’s against earmarks, yet loads up his plate with hundreds of millions of dollars worth for projects that should either be funded through the state or privately.... Oh and then he votes against the very bill that has all the earmarks that he placed into it.
Claims to be against government intrusion, yet he placed an earmark to fund a system for a sheriff’s department to track and ID children.
Claims to be against government waste, yet placed an earmark to renovate a privately owned movie theater, as well as another earmark for the study and marketing of wild shrimp.
Claims to be against the Trans-Texas Corridor AKA NAFTA Superhighway, yet placed millions of dollars worth of earmarks to help fund it.
Claims to support the troops while voting AGAINST pay raises, healthcare, and housing improvements for the military.
And ron paul has NEVER BEEN “honorable” since he freely associates himself with the likes of dennis kucinich, alex jones, and other America hating “9/11 was an inside job” nuts.
And your support of ron paul is ill-conceived and misguided, based on your lack of FACTS about his voting record.
I’m sure you can provide original sources for each of your claims. But if not, I can understand since each of your items has been debunked many, MANY times over, right here on this site. I’m surprised you still either believe them despite the evidence or cite them as being “factual” when you should reasonably know they are false.
But, hey, what would that matter? Dr. Paul’s got so many people saying he’s a kook, there’s gotta be some fire with all that smoke, right? You put me in mind of a device popular from the 1750’s to about 1810, a “tobacco smoke enema,” used to infuse tobacco smoke up one’s rectum, to resuscitate drowning victims... from this piece of quackery we get the phrase, “to blow smoke up one’s ass.” Which is the feeling I get when I read your posts about Dr. Paul.
Me on Grayson: (some freepers go around calling him a RINO cause he didn’t leave the rat party till the mid 90’s, they can’t prove he holds any liberal views). He’s a protege of Bunning I believe.
EternalVigilance’s reply: You also can’t prove he stands for anything. Other than a few wishy-washy “Republican” sounding nothings.
But I'm sure that the moonbats and other loons who defend the senile old coot will say that it wasn't really him casting those votes.
The only one who's had smoke blown up one’s ass are those who are gullible to believe everything that ron paul says.... Hook, line and sinker.
Time and time again he has voted against funding for our military, voted against military pay raises, military healthcare, military housing improvements, etc, etc, etc.
He has voted to kill the B-2 bomber program.
He has voted against funding for the missile defense system.
He requested FEDERAL MONEY to install security cameras at an apartment complex.
He also requested FEDERAL MONEY to “beautify” a seawall.
All right here in black and white:
http://www.house.gov/paul/42008.pdf
Cameras at page 4, seawall at page 5.
Try and justify those earmarks.
