I just read that the officer was going to Iraq. This is horrible and a terrible shame that our men are not even safe in our country on an army base.

This Major Hasan was apparently fairly outspoke against Iraq and Afghanistan.
Does anyone remember the case of Sgt. Asan Akbar in 2003? He was the guy who fraged the command tent on the night of the invasion of Iraq killing two officers (one an Idaho Major) and wounding 14 others. He was ultimately sentenced to death and is awaiting appeal and carrying out of the sentence.
His own quotes included:
“I may not have killed any Muslims, but being in the Army is the same thing. I may have to make a choice very soon on who to kill. You guys are coming into our countries, and you’re going to rape our women and kill our children.”
I believe we will find that this is in a similar vein.

Besides, the shooter was obviously Jewish or possibly Irish Catholic.
