Exclusive: Watchdog fears Tehran has key component to put bombs in missiles

The UN's nuclear watchdog has asked Iran to explain evidence suggesting that Iranian scientists have experimented with an advanced nuclear warhead design, the Guardian has learned.

The very existence of the technology, known as a "two-point implosion" device, is officially secret in both the US and Britain, but according to previously unpublished documentation in a dossier compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian scientists may have tested high-explosive components of the design. The development was today described by nuclear experts as "breathtaking" and has added urgency to the effort to find a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis.

The sophisticated technology, once mastered, allows for the production of smaller and simpler warheads than older models. It reduces the diameter of a warhead and makes it easier to put a nuclear warhead on a missile.

"described by nuclear experts as "breathtaking""

Sounds like diplomatic speak to me; Not expert talk.

It’s ok, the CIA assured everyone that Iran had discontinued any nuclear weapons program that they never did have in the first place......

look away, folks, this is merely Satanic propaganda of the infidels against the return of the Mahdi, the “12th Imam”.... crawling up out of some kind of well, or is it a cesspool?

"The development was today described by nuclear experts as "breathtaking" and has added urgency to the effort to find a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis."

A diplomatic solution? It is way way past a diplomatic solution! "The battle of Iraq was a major victory in the war on terror, but the war is far from over. We cannot allow ourselves to grow complacent. We cannot forget that terrorists remain determined to kill as many Americans as possible, both abroad and here at home, and they are seeking weapons of mass destruction to use against us. With such an enemy no peace treaty is possible; no policy of containment or deterrence will prove effective. The only way to deal with this thread is to destroy it, completely and utterly." --Vice President Richard Cheney

It’s not too secret - there’s a Wikipedia article describing two point implosion nuclear devices that can be Googled in about half a second.

Don’t think this source is very credible.

I think this design allows for compact HYDROGEN bombs, making them practical. Not just fission bombs. So, that means Iran is going for the BIG ONE! What do the experts here in Freeperville think?

Gee, i dion’t know. I am not sure when I first heard about the technology, but it was a long, long time ago. Perhaps it is one of those secrets—kind of like Israel’s nuclear stockpile.
