I would love to get to another CPAC conference next year but I dont think I should be splurging the way the economy is right now.

Update 6:38 News Channel 25's Henry Rosoff is reporting Nidal Malik Hasan's neighbors who say Hasan was giving away all of his furniture and copies of the Qu' ran Thursday morning. They also say he was supposed to deploy to Afghanistan in the coming days.

Uh, yes it is unusual. The military will either pay for you to store your belongings if you have off post housing or you could keep your apartment and leave your stuff there.

BTW — how are you? I do so miss being in DC — or at any of the teaparty or other townhall activities! I haven’t been to my ‘stomping grounds’ for ages! First it was a bad knee that kept me home, and now it is the recovery from knee replacement. It is taking its sweet time, and so I can only sit and watch — but thank goodness I have FR!!

Update 7:25 CNN reporting 13 people now dead, 30 injured.
Update 5:26 News Channel 25’s Natasha Chen has learned the suspected shooter Maj. Malik Hasan had “Allah” keyed into his car last week. He reported it as a hate crime.
Update 5:15 Metroplex Adventist Hospital received seven of the victims. One was under distress in route to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. Two are currently in surgery, one of which is an EMS paramedic. Four have been stabilized. Two were transferred to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple and two have been transferred to Seton in Round Rock.
Update 4:53 Scott & White Hospital reports it has 9 soldiers who were transferred from Darnall Army Hospital; 4 are in operating rooms, 5 are in the ER for evaluation, 10 are on the way from Darnall to Scott & White. Scott & White is making accommodations for all of the families. Patients who were already at Scott & White are being rearranged.
