...The top commander at Fort Hood is crediting a civilian police officer for stopping the shooting rampage that killed 13 people at the Texas post. Lt. Gen. Bob Cone also hailed a young Army nutritionist who helped wounded victims.

Both women heroically intervened despite being shot. Cone said Friday that Fort Hood police Sgt. Kimberly Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of reported gunfire Thursday afternoon. Cone said Munley shot the gunman four times despite being shot herself.

Officials said Munley was in stable condition. Cone said, "It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer."

[ ...snip...]

Cone also hailed Amber Bahr, 19, as an "amazing young lady." The commander told NBC's TODAY show that the nutritionist put a tourniquet on a wounded soldier and carried him out to medical care. And only after she had taken care of others did she realize she had been shot, he said.

On Thursday, her mother, Lisa Pfund, told the Sheboygan Press that she spoke briefly to Bahr after she was taken to a community hospital....

Now there is a photo of Kimberly Munly, from her facebook homepage. Perhaps MSNBC changes photos which accompany stories on their mobile editions?

Her Twitter bio read: 'I live a good life. ... a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully @ night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone's life."

Never more so than yesterday. We're bursting with pride to be able to count you among our countrymen (countrywomen?)

A Muslim in the Army can post on the internet supporting Suicide Bombers and nothing is done until he kills a dozen while trying to kill more, BUT if a NFL player uses a Gay slur, there are demands for his firing. If lies are told about Rush Limbaugh, he can’t own a small part of a football team. The bleeping 9-11 highkackers could have put their plan on the internet and the MSM would be blaming Bush.

Small town Wisconsin produces some fine Americans, and Amber is one of our best! Random Lake just 45 minutes north of Milwaukee, I have a friend who teaches there.

So..... when does the left cry for charges to be brought up on this officer for shooting the poor oppressed muslim?

Both these women deserve a medal. But Obama will just shrug his shoulders.

Where were the MPs? This is a military post with a large contingent of MILITARY POLICE.

Who should have been the first responders? I haven’t heard anyone address this point so far.

So will there be hate crime charges against Nidal Malik Hasan?

Good ol’ Texas justice will make sure he gets a needle in his arm.

The local police department responded; it is my understanding that none of the soldiers were armed, and that like many American military installations the armed guards are civilian security guards.

“Both these women deserve a medal. But Obama will just shrug his shoulders.”

Fortunately the decision to award medals is in the hands of Army officers; men and women of character who have gone to West Point or similar service academies (e.g. ROTC) and not Obama.

I am glad these two ladies will receive their well-deserved decorations in person and not posthumously. Furthermore, I hope they receive them from somebody like General David Petraeus and not Barack Obama.
