The answer to the big question surrounding Nancy Pelosis scheduling of the ObamaCare vote this weekend has been answered. She didnt schedule it for Saturday because she had the votes and now Steny Hoyer has admitted as much this morning:
A House leader says Democrats havent yet lined up enough votes to pass their health care overhaul bill.
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland says the vote that House Democrats had scheduled for Saturday could slip to Sunday or early next week.
Hoyer acknowledged to reporters Friday that Democratic leaders dont yet have the 218 votes needed to pass President Barack Obamas historic health overhaul initiative.
In other words, this was a Hail Nancy play. She couldnt afford to wait too long for the vote after dropping 2,000 pages on members last week, and having them see the results of the elections this week. Pelosi and Hoyer thought that rushing a vote would allow them to bully recalcitrant moderates into support.

Ping.
You forgot a word . . . “yet.”
Ping.
The Dims hold the Senate, the House and the White House... and can’t pass their favorite legislation. Not only are they wrong, but they are also incompetent.
DECOY....
Didn’t she pull this at least once before?
Hee hee - think I’ll make some more phone calls!
The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf.
“You forgot a word . . . yet.
Agree. Never, NEVER underestimate the sleaziness of a democrat.
Especially the Pelosidiot.
The GOP needs to publicize their plan more. From what I’ve heard about it’s far less costly than the Rat plan, and has lots of common sense solutions.
A big shout-out to the voters in New Jersey and Virginia who put the fear of God (and their jobs) into a bunch of Demo-rats this week.
We have to put garlic in the mouth, cut off the head, and put a stake through the heart.
Blue Dogs better start looking over their shoulders. It wont be long that the photos of them with the wrong woman will be showing up on their desks. Their children may tell tales of strange men following them. This is going to get brutal.
There were thousands of Americans (likely voters, to be sure) shouting KILL THE BILL on the steps of the U.S. Capitol yesterday, a week day during business hours. Any elected official who votes for this thing is is committing political suicide.
What!!???? Steny Hoyer LIED!!!!????????
Not necessarily incompetent, although I get your point.
The fundamental problem they have is that many of the RATS campaigned and were elected on none of this liberal agenda.
If the MSM had any shred of decency, they would grow weary of Pelosi’s continued lies and grandstanding — she has said repeatedly that she has the votes when everyone in those press conferences knows damn full well that she doesn’t. Were this a GOP leader, his/her credibility would be publicly torn into shreds and he would be run out of town.

I wish people would stop calling this thing a “healthcare overhaul initiative.” It’s a healthcare takeover powergrab. Period.
Pelosi and Co. can take away a lot of goodies from those that don’t toe the socialist line, but we can fire them outright. So what’s it going to be, blue dogs?
Does anyone have a link to the bill? Preferably in HTML format. If not I will try to load a PDF file.
10.2% unemployment and $1+ Trillion price tag.
Blue Dogs are hunting a hole to hide in. They know they can’t face voters next year with those numbers.
That “shout out” yesterday couldn’t have given dems much comfort, as to the state of priorities from their prez.
At this point, this issue is so politically charged, BOTH parties need to back off and take a breath. ANY plan that is passed is going to instantly enrage some segment of our society and, IMO, at this point, it is a no-win situation!!
Besides, we already know that the 'Pubbies' plan isn't going anywhere except the trash. The trifecta of Bammy and PelousyReid have previously confirmed that they aren't interested in Republican ideas.
Nah, they haven’t had the votes in the house for this since August. They might have been able to bully it through before recess in July, but when they missed that deadline, they lost the votes.
When they didn’t change any of the sticking points that stopped them from getting to 218 in the House and kept them stuck at 47 in the Senate, they were basically just doing a sop to their base when they unveiled the latest bills. I never expected there to be a vote on Saturday unless they wanted to have an epic fail for all to see. The absolute last chance to pass health care was to cajole the votes out of the wobbly members of the caucus BEFORE the November election. When they missed that deadline, health care was effectively dead absent a surprise Democratic success on election day. As we know, that did not happen.
They are in damage control mode over this now. Time to search for villains to blame for the failure. Insurance companies, Republicans, and Joe Lieberman aren’t enough. Look for them to start throwing members of their own caucus under the bus for the benefit of their base. Their infighting is about to get a lot more public.
The real scary problem right now is Lindsay Graham’s new found love of cap & trade, which provides them with a lot of cover on that bill.
Steny wants Pelosi’s job. He is saying this stuf, hoping the bill doesn’t pass, to get Nancy fired.
Watch Steny,,next Speaker of the House.
I’m not as sanguine about the death of this as you are. I recall cap and tax in the House, and how several “blue dogs” suddenly got religion, and all sorts of massive freebies.
W had a plan when the GOP held Congress - to allow HSAs and tax-free medical accounts...they never did a thing with it.
As usual, the GOP is a year late and a trillion dollars short.
“Not only are they wrong, but they are also incompetent.”
Not me, ofcourse, but some “extremists” would call Obamacare downright evil. It is the Left’s “progress” to legally kill more people.
dem policies are always historic while GOP policies are extreme/radical
The GOP’s plan costs $98 billion dollars... They can stick their centralized control plan with the Obamacare plan.
“....but they are also incompetent...”
Thank God for incompetence, and keep pushing back.
The Palliative End of Life Optimum Serenity Initiative (PELOSI) Plan is in trouble? That’s good for geezers.
That was before the town halls and the election. That same bill wouldn’t pass today either...unless a useful idiot from our side like Pandsay Graham gives them ‘bi-partisan’ cover to do it.
The problem with the Obama agenda is that any one of the big 4 (health care, cap and trade, amnesty, card check) are enough to completely destroy the country. So if one is dead for the moment, the next one rears it’s ugly head.
Just hope that the Dems don’t realize that they are screwed no matter what they do. If they vote for these things, they’ll be sent home for doing what their constituents don’t want. If they don’t vote for them, their base won’t have ANY energy to come out for them.
This is what happens when you promise a bunch of zombies a whole lot of unkeepable promises.
Yet is the magic word, but the thought of PelosiCare crashing and burning makes me giddy with glee!
So why is Steny Hoyer making this announcement? And is it even barely possible that he is secretly happy about it, since it makes Nancy look bad?
nazi Peeeelosi is delusional
Don’t get me wrong, btw, I’m still calling and writing. That’s what’s killing it.
I agree they are all a threat. I’m not at all convinced this is dead by any stretch of the imagination.
Fake out!! They have the votes,,,,NEVER TRUST A DEMOCRAT....BVLUE DOG or YELLOW DOG ones!!
You and I cannot celebrate AT ALL until the Dems lose all majorities in 2010-—and they have to lose them so significantly that Congress can undo some of the damange.
Yeah, I know, but I also think calling and writing are irrelevant at this point. I think Rush (or someone) yesterday said this. I found this out during cap and tax when NEITHER Voinovich or Brown would even answer a phone-—not their STAFFS!!! They just don’t care.
Yeah. Start with scheduling - or not - the vote for Saturday - or not - to inconvenience everyone as much as possible. She doesn’t have the votes if she’s playing by-the-hour scheduling games in hopes the right people won’t show up to vote thanks to confusion or availability.
Yes, that is entirely plausible. Hoyer and Pelosi have never been close, personally or politically.
Hoyer is one of the more sane RATS in Congress and people know he has integrity.
Pelosi is a leftist ideologue.
I heard several persons yesterday on the Hill speculating about her being removed as Speaker if health care fails to pass.
FU Nancy! This gices us a few more days to call and call and email and email. If she wants a bigger crowd next week to show up that can be done!
FU Nancy! This gives us a few more days to call and call and email and email. If she wants a bigger crowd next week to show up that can be done!
“A big shout-out to the voters in New Jersey and Virginia who put the fear of God (and their jobs) into a bunch of Demo-rats this week.”
Yes, for the first time in a year I am proud of my country.
Here are all the Blue Dog Democrats. The clickable links go to their online Message System. You can use this local district information --- City, State, Zip, and Area Codes-- to get through their spam filter. If they ask for a Zip+4, you can use any 4 digits added onto the indicated Zip Code.
The way I do it is, first copy all this information into a different (word) program. Then copy the line that has the city, zip, etc. for that particular district. The click the HTTP thingie to get into the Message System. Then paste the info. into one of the blanks, and point and drag the city, zip, etc. onto the correct lines.
Go get em.

Well, Voinovitch is retiring Brown is a Kool-Aid drinker of the first order, so I could see that.
Must have been one of the subs yesterday who said that, since nobody good (Rush, Glenn) actually showed up for work. ‘Twas a quiet day around here...I didn’t listen to any of em. At least we have Stein today.
As far as calling/letters having an affect, it depends on who you’re dealing with. We’ve scared the living crap out of the ‘blue dog’ congressman in the district next door to me. I think he’s going for a no vote at this point. My congressman, who is a leftist ACORN slimebag of the first order, is only ‘leaning’ towards yes, which is interesting to say the least.
