Washington DC - Today, U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter returned from a trip to Afghanistan, where he met with civilian and military leadership and service personnel undertaking combat duties. Hunter once again called on President Obama to take decisive action and immediately implement General Stanley McChrystal's counterinsurgency strategy.

"This trip to Afghanistan provided a great opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing our combat personnel and the efforts of military and civilian leadership to achieve victory," said Congressman Hunter. "There appears to be unanimous agreement among military commanders and their civilian counterparts that additional combat troops are needed - and needed fast."

"Now that the Afghan Presidency has been decided, President Hamid Karzai must step up and provide the type of leadership that is needed to carry Afghanistan forward. Karzai must reassert himself as a strong national leader who is committed to fighting corruption, establishing the rule of law and creating new opportunities for the Afghan people.

"Training Afghanistan's military and police forces must also be a priority, much like it was in Iraq at the time of the surge. Afghanistan is certainly not Iraq but we know from experience that a strong counterinsurgency strategy and well-trained security forces can put us on a direct path toward mission success.

"It is time for President Obama to accept General McChrystal's strategy. Victory in Afghanistan is well within reach but our military needs the resources to make it happen."

If the GOP had been smart enough to nominate his dad, instead of McQueeg, there would be no Obama to f*** things up in Afghanistan.

Duncan needs to get in front of cameras more. Nobody knows him. During the debates he was just one of many.

Wrong Hunter. This one is the son, a first year congressman. Dad is retired.
