A top Republican congressional recruit said on Friday that the shooting at Ft. Hood, Texas yesterday by a solider allegedly sympathetic to suicide bombers shows that the "enemy is infiltrating our military."
Allen West (R-Fla.), a retired military colonel who served as a commander at the Texas base, said in a release that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's attack may indicate a broader effort by Islamic extremists to recruit downtrodden members of the military.
"This enemy preys on downtrodden soldiers and teaches them extremism will lift them up," West said in a statement. "Our soldiers are being brainwashed."
The release added that West claims "the horrible tragedy at Fort Hood is proof the enemy is infiltrating our military."
The National Republican Congressional Committee in October selected West as one of 32 new members of its "Young Guns" program designed to promote challengers and open-seat candidates in the 2010 midterm elections. West formerly served in Iraq and Afghanistan and was the 2008 Republican nominee to unseat Rep. Ron Klein (D-Fla.) in the state's 22nd district.
The suspected gunman, Maj. Hasan, is an Army psychiatrist tasked with helping soldiers who are in distress. Military investigators have not yet determined what sparked him to turn on his fellow soldiers. But Ft. Hood's base commander, Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, said Friday on NBC's "Today" show that Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire yesterday in a rampage that killed 13 and wounded 30. "Allahu Akbar!" is Arabic for "God is great!"
Though the 39-year-old's motive for shooting is still unclear, Hasan was preparing to deploy overseas and had previously voiced resentment toward the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. A base official told the AP he was deploying to Afghanistan. Law enforcement officials six months ago became familiar with Hasan because he allegedly posted online messages sympathetic toward suicide bombers.
But, according to the AP, investigators have not determined for certain that Hasan authored the post; the investigation is still ongoing.
West called on the military to create ways "to prevent Islamic extremism from penetrating our bases."
West said "it is imperative that we take steps to make sure this does not happen again" and that it is important to "objectively assess this situation."
How about our nation? Infiltrating our country through open borders, asinine immigration laws/polices and PC mania that is destroying us?

This guy was no recent convert. He was their mental health guy preaching Islam to the troops. He was the one trying to do the converting.
This is my district. West ran a pretty good campaign in 2008 and gave Klein a scare. If Klein votes “aye” on the Pelosi “health care” edict then West might knock him off.

I think Klein is the millionaire business man, and not the cheater, but I'm not positive.

CQ rates this seat as safe Democrat for ‘10, unfortunately. But West is running hard anyway. At this point in 2005 no one expected so many “safe” Republicans to go down a year later so you never know.
That's bogus by CQ. West lost by 7 points last year. So CQ is saying Klein is going to pick up 3 points in an off year, without Obama on the ballot? That's a joke CQ is putting up.
It’s been said that the shooter was a psychiatrist who treated soldiers returning from the war zones. You hafta wonder about the Army’s wisdom in using a Muslim as a mental health therapist for troops who may want to vent about their experiences in fighting MUSLIMS? Hello? Does anybody have a clue?
These troops deserve to be able to freely vent their feelings and not have to worry about Major Islam ringing them up for slurring the Religion of Peace.

Gee, I didn’t think it would take a military colonel to recognize this since I know it. Those that don’t know it have their heads in the sand. Besides, many of the muslim recruits are already muslim when they sign on. They don’t have to be recruited. Their mission is to infiltrate.

We have known that for years. They are infiltrating this country and no one in power seems to give a hoot. We need to weed out these nutcases. Why wasn’t something done when they found out about him 6 months ago? I am fed up. It is only going to get worse.

Words are used like shootings , killings , ( couched in terms as if the victims could shoot back.)
This happened at a med facility where there was a long cue for flu shots and other medical processing.The perpetrator calmly got to his feet , reached into his jacket, drew his 5.7 mm FN pistol and calmly started walking down the rows of people , pointing his weapon and shooting them calmly, point blank, in cold blood.
This was not “shootings” This was not “killings.” This was genocidal execution. These human beings were dispatched as if they were animals.One woman was 6 months pregnant.

Foley lost to Mahoney (D) who then had his own sex scandal and lost to Rooney (R) in 2008. I think district is nearby that one, though.

Understanding that Husan is/was just a doctor in the Army, is it still possible he could have passed secret military info to the enemy?
