GOP Mulls Stripping DeDe [Scozzafava] of Top Post
Politico ^ | November 7, 2009 | Andy Barr

Dede Scozzafava, the Republican nominee who issued an election eve endorsement of Democrat Bill Owens in the Nov. 3 New York special election, will meet with Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb Monday to discuss whether she will be stripped of her Assembly leadership position.

POLITICO has learned that Kolb will announce after the face-to-face meeting whether Scozzafava, the Minority Leader Pro Tempore, will remain as the GOP floor leader.

“Fundamentally my members are very disappointed with her endorsement of Bill Owens and aiding him in helping achieve the Nancy Pelosi health care plan in Washington,” Kolb said.

Scozzafava’s last-minute endorsement, issued one day after she dropped out of the race, gave Owens a key boost in the close race and helped deliver a congressional seat held by the GOP for more than a century to the Democratic Party.

Owens defeated Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman 49 percent to 46 percent, with Scozzafava, whose name remained on the ballot, pulling in 5 percent.

“Without talking to her great political friends, without contacting me and influenced by her husband who is the head of the central labor council up there, she decided to support the Democratic candidate, which was a betrayal of everything she said she was,” Cox added. “She had assured my every step of the way that she was a solid Republican.”

You didn't think a liberal would endorse another liberal Democrat? Time to wipe the egg off your face, Cox.

Why is there even a meeting? Strip her of the title and ban her from the caucus. Shun her like a leper.

If you believed that based on her history, you are a fool and need to resign your position too.

The OP(formerly the GOP) endorses her knowing her positions on various issues are in agreement with the socialist RATs and now stripping her of a post couldn’t be more disingenuous.

Couldn’t they have found a way to write this story without using the word “stripping” and Scozzafava in the same sentence?

It’s no wonder the (R) party is in such deep do do. These people have to be right out of their minds by not banishing this wretch from anything to do with the Republican Party.

I expect the same thing ... however, she could shoot herself in the foot by doing so. She may have trouble getting re-elected from her district as a RAT.

How about the GOP leadership do the honourable thing and resign so that we can get some competent conservative leadership.

I don’t care about DeDe.

The problem started with the GOP leadership, both in that precinct and in the national GOP, not DeDe.

Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb Monday to discuss whether she will be stripped of her Assembly leadership position.

Really? It seems to me this should be automatic, unless the meeting is a mere formality.

If you guys are too stupid to recognize a RINO when she waddles into the room, then you don't need to be mulling options, you need to be tendering resignations.

There is no way to objectively could look at the scuzzyfava record and believe she is anything other than a democrat.

"Kolb, who has spoken to Scozzafava several times since she dropped out and endorsed Owens, said that he “told her that she made that decision based on emotions rather than thinking it through and all the ramifications to her and her district.”

“She denies she was making that decision on emotions, but she was hurt by the attacks coming from inside and outside the state,” he said. “She was hurt, and that drove that decision, in my opinion…I expressed extreme disappointment in that decision.”

Awwww...the poor little socialist turned traitor on her party because she was hurt! Now I understand!

I guess if we had all kept quiet, and the popular Dede had remained in the race, Owens might have won with 39 percent or so.

I'll tell you what goaded me in the final days leading up to the election. It was that the MSM kept referring to Scozzafava as a “moderate”.

I honest to God have no problem with “moderates” in the GOP. Nor do I think that all moderates are RINO’s. Just don't try to cram a leftist down the party bases throat and try to tell us that the leftist is a moderate.

Oh Dede Scuzzobama has a minor leadership position with the NY GOP Assembly rump. Figures.

And now the minority leader will “mull” stripping her of it after wasting his time letting the slag try to talk her way out it.

If I’m the GOP leader she’s expelled from the caucus as soon as she endorses Owens. But that’s just me, I’m not very inclusive when it comes to leftist traitors.

This is exactly why the GOP is dying. The party isn’t on life-support, it is a walking dead man. There is a cancer so deep that it can’t be saved. It isn’t like an old house that can be renovated with conservative ideals “once we git inside there”.

It’s dead Jim.
