CBO: New House Health Bill Spending Estimate, $3 Trillion over 10 Years (22% of GDP)
Redstate ^ | November 7th | Dan Perrin citing senator Judd Gregg

Posted on 11/07/2009 10:27:10 AM PST by Mount Athos

Senator Gregg stated, “The CBO estimate released last night finally sheds light on the smoke and mirrors game the majority has been playing with the cost of their health care reform proposal. Over the first 10 years, this legislation builds in gross new spending of $1.7 trillion – and most of the new spending doesn’t even start until 2014. Once that spending is fully phased in, the House Democratic bill rings up at more than $3 trillion over ten years.

“Additionally, this bill cuts critical Medicare and Medicaid funding by $628 billion, accounts for nearly $1.2 trillion in tax and fee increases and will explode the scope of government by putting the nation’s health care system in the hands of Washington bureaucrats. The $3 trillion price tag defies common sense – we simply cannot add all this new spending to the government rolls and claim to control the deficit.

“If we continue to pile more and more debt on the next generation, they will never be able to get out from under it. The health care system needs reform, but this massive expansion of government, financed by our children and grandchildren, is the wrong way to proceed.”

debt on the next generation, they will never be able to get out from under it...

The 'rats intentions are really nefarious here. They want the debt burden to be insurmountable so as to destroy the US as it is, and remake it in their image of socialism, marxism, and communism - blue dogs and republicans be damned.

The people in power pushing this socialism are tyrants. They are the enemies of the American people, unless you consider your slave master your friend or ally.

They are enemies of the US Constitution. They are enemies of freedom, human liberty, and justice. They deserve to be treated as such.

22% of GDP? I think you’re being optimistic. I’d suggest that the GDP will fall by 20%, and it will be 45% of GDP.

So is it 3 trillion or 1.7 trillion over 10 years? It is hard to understand what this guy is saying.

Speaking of smoke and mirrors: “Over the first 10 years, this legislation builds in gross new spending of $1.7 trillion – and most of the new spending doesn’t even start until 2014. Once that spending is fully phased in, the House Democratic bill rings up at more than $3 trillion over ten years. “ WHAT the heck does that mean? Could the GOP at least explain this so it makes sense?

He means, and it is clear, that for the spending authorized before 2014, the bill comes to 1.7 trillion over 10 years, after the new spending kicks in after 2014, the bill comes to 3 trillion. In other words the dems were trying to hide the actual cost.

Dear Governor Perry,

On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.

You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.

We are asking you to take the lead.

We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.

We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.

Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.

Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.

Thank you,

Facts about the 10th Amendment:

The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution’s principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.

HCR 50 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE 99-36!
Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.

Take Action! Before it is too late!

REMEMBER THIS,TEXANS:

Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress

“One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.”

Even at $3 trillion, I still think the numbers are low. But I may need somebody to help me with my math here:

In California, where I live, a liberal activist Federal Court has threatened to take control of our prison system claiming the government-run health care provided to the prisoners is "cruel and unusual" because it doesn't spend enough per prisoner.*

The amount spent per prisoner ranges between $12,442 and $17,030 per year depending who you talk to. The low amount is the number liberals are angry about, so they must believe it.

Let's take that low (cruel and unusual) number and assume that amount (which is cruel and unusual) will nevertheless be sufficient for each of the 310 million people in America.

$12k X 310millon = $3.8 trillion PER YEAR

If I cut that number in half just to make it smaller ... and cut it in half again to make it not so darn big ... and then cut it in half yet again to get it even lower ... I still get $4.7 trillion over 10 years.

So even if this $3 trillion over 10 years (for 5 years of services) is an exaggeration, it seems like we're going to get some pretty cruel and unusual health care for America. Health care not even fit for a prisoner.

Thoughts?

* The court also determined that the California system can/should be made better by the release of prisoners because there are not enough doctors.
