Thousands of people filling the sidewalks and spilling onto Tully Road had arrived early Saturday morning to receive one of 5,500 doses of coveted swine flu vaccine. "There's no way there's enough," said George Reis, who was helping with crowd control. "They keep coming."

My kids and I are high risk for H1N1 complications. We've been trying to get the vaccine. Our pediatrician got a few vaccines, and my daughter with a brain injury and epilepsy was high enough risk that she got it.

However, my other daughter and I have asthma and we can't get it. The pediatrician is out of vaccines, and my doctor never had it.

We tried the clinic in San Jose, and I couldn't believe the lines. We turned around and went home and had some vitamin D & C.

If the government can't even distribute this vaccine, then I can't even believe what a fiasco government healthcare will be.

I was really worried about my daughter with epilepsy, and at least she got the vaccine. She hasn’t had a fever since she was diagnosed with epilepsy, so I was worried about how she would handle a high fever. Plus, she’s had a lot of problems with missing school because of the epilepsy. A major illness just wouldn’t help with that.

I feel prepared for my other daughter with asthma. I have tamiflu on hand for her.

It may have already peaked. There were 200 kids sick at my son’s school a few weeks ago.

I’m thinking it could go up again next week because they have a school dance.

If we weren’t high risk, then we wouldn’t get the shot.

Colds/flus always get my daughter very sick. Even with just a cold, she’ll be wheezing and coughing for 2/3 weeks. We always have to be careful it doesn’t turn into pneumonia, and we have many sleepless nights.

Also, Oregano Essential Oil might be beneficial. I've gotten two kids and myself through the flu by taking it along with Thieves Oil. If you have a sore throat, you can put 1 drop of the Oregano Oil into a warm class of water (about 6 ounces), stir it up and gargle. It's vile tasting but it worked for us like a charm. And you can place one drop of the oil into a clear vegetable capsule and take it with 4 ounces of rice milk or water once a day. It's extremely strong. Don't sniff it like you would do with other oils.

I think I’m strong enough to withstand this flu, so I won’t be getting the shot, (leaving more for people who want it).

I will add that I am 100% positive that a lot of people in that line were illegal immigrants.

It was also supposed to only be for high risk individuals, but I doubt that lots of the people were high risk.

I know they didn’t say to have proof of your condition, so how would they know if you were high risk or not.

So you have illegal immigrants who are not US citizens getting the shot for free before me and my children who are US citizens and high risk and willing to pay for the shot.

Although Santa Clara County health officials had originally planned for the public clinic to target just the uninsured, they opened the clinic to anyone considered high risk, including pregnant women and children, because so little of the vaccine has been available anywhere.
