GOP's Graham steps out on a limb on climate change ("I don't think it will cost me my job")
McClatchy / The Miami Herald ^ | 2009-11-07 | James S. Rosen

Posted on 11/07/2009 3:34:26 PM PST by rabscuttle385

WASHINGTON — When it comes to combating global warming, Sen. Lindsey Graham is right where he loves to be — ahead of the curve, in the mix on a major issue, at the table for high-level, bipartisan talks behind closed doors.

Graham, a South Carolina Republican, is working with Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut to craft a climate change bill.

They face the dual challenge of overcoming widespread GOP opposition and withstanding relentless attacks by Big Oil and allied energy interests.

"Our goal is to create a vision that not only will help this planet — which I think is in peril — but will create millions of new jobs for Americans who need them, and help us become energy independent to make us safer," Graham told a crowded Capitol Hill news conference Wednesday.

Graham added: "But I don't think it will cost me my job."

The attempt to create a recall mechanism after the Mark Sanford scandal needs to continue and applied to Graham. He is far more worthy of a recall than even Sanford is.

Graham is such an arrogant rube. Wake up Lindsay! The Dems will use you to pass their beloved “Cap and Tax,” then use the EPA, enviro-weenies, and liberal judges to strip the domestic drilling, clean coal and nuclear provisions. We will be left with the tax. On behalf of your SC constituency, we will work tirelessly to make sure that it costs you your job!

South Carolina, can you guys please send this guy into retirement?

"If I can create legislation that would allow this country to stop buying so much foreign oil and make us safer — plus find a solution to the carbon pollution hurting our planet — that would be a good use of my time..."

Dim bulb or sell out. Carbon legislation does nothing to slow the import of foreign oil.

Wind farms and solar plants do exactly "nothing" to slow the importing of foreign oil.

If you want to make us energy independent, you'll open up the coastlines to drilling, now. You'll repeal the moratorium on oil shale like now. You'll encourage the building of coal-to-liquids plants "now".

Carbon credits will put the government in charge of every, and I mean every, area of life in America. Business life, presonal life, what you do in your home, what you do within your family. There will be nothing beyond the reach of carbon law because that is the way it is designed. It has nothing to do with energy independence and will never achieve it because the people who are proposing it are sold out to OPEC.

Get these people out of office or prepare to lose it all.

Lindsey Graham should man up, and grow a pair. He wants to be loved by the people who are in the process of losing this nation, and losing their own power. Get a brain Lindsey. There is no global warming beyond normal cycles, and the normal cycle for right now is cooling, not warming. Stop smooching with the liars. People will eventually figure out this scam, and rebel.

The mood of the electorate will soon be much uglier than it is now. We’re talking the sort of mood that held sway during the French Revolution. So the Senator needs to worry about losing other things than just his job.

Energy independent? What has Congress done to move in that direction?

The Democrat "No Domestic Energy Policy!"

All of that puts the U.S. in a position that war for oil or
complete economic collapse will be our only choices.
You can't frustrate every source of domestic energy
without consequences. Our enemies will blackmail us
to the extent that we are vulnerable to blackmail.

The Democrats are leading us into a real war for oil.
A war we won't have the energy to fight.
A war we don't need to fight because we have our own resources.

Sen. Lindsey Graham is right where he loves to be

What day and time did he love to be there? He's not to the right of anything except maybe slightly to the right of that botox queen pelosi. He's an arrogant piece of slimey crap and my fellow SC voters will hopefully put him on the jobless roll next election. We're sick of him in these parts.

If you want to take a slap at Lindsey, keep an eye on Bob Inglis who is the RINO congressman from upstate South Carolina. They are bosom chums. If Inglis can be challenged successfully in the upcoming GOP primary, Lindsey will do the Enraged Marvin the Martian...”now that isn’t a bit nice”....
