WASHINGTON -- What strikes me about politics over the last couple of years is how obvious it all has been. In 2008, as the junior senator from Illinois campaigned across the country demonstrating his gifts as a motivational speaker and community organizer, all one had to do was review his recent life to know that he was about to bring down on the country -- ever so incompetently -- the most left-wing government in American history. And so he has -- with the utmost incompetence. Think of the paucity of swine flu vaccine, in large part the consequence of his government's meddling with production.

As I say, it was all so obvious. No president in modern times has come to power with less political experience and less managerial experience. On the other hand, no president has come to power with a clearer record of political extremism. Senator Barack Obama had the most left-wing voting record in the Senate, brief as his record was. Back in Illinois he had a record of associations with extremists that would have sunk any other presidential candidate. Think of his friendship with Bill Ayers, a co-founder of the Weather Underground that actually bombed public buildings in the 1960s. Think of Obama's attendance week after week at religious services where the Rev. Jeremiah Wright thundered forth with diatribes lilting with such lines as "God damn America." The radical direction of the Obama presidency was foreordained.

Just thinking on the page here...(the picture of Michelle Malkin that pops up when you go to the actual site is distractingly beautiful)....

Anyway, I think the queasiness that's settling in over Obama is going to get far stronger with this weekend. I suspect that his shout out and the ramming through of the bill will be a double-barrelled hit to the fence-sitters, who will think "I may not be able to articulate why, but I finally feel this guy is not to be trusted."

The Dems can high-five each other tonight, but by the end of this coming week, I think more people will have finally decided they don't trust him, and will take action to defeat this in the senate.

All we need now is for Obama to come up with a new flag we can all rally behind seeing as the old stars and bars are too offensive for communists.

I am just wondering when he will call on his minions to burn the Capital and blame it on us conservatives to be able to declare Martial Law and really crack down on us conservative extremists....

Those who have sacrificed liberty for security have left ME with neither...

You truly trust the “free” elections. We have Senators and congress men and women who now get pensions for life, health care for life and most of them have never actually owned or created a job ever. I want term limits, 12yrs for Senators and 8 yrs for congress. I want to get rid of the lifelong politicians. I am not sure we will have a fair and free election again. They did not listen to the electorate on this Tax Bill.

I agree. It's time to stop paying lipservice to our love of this document, and time to start fulfilling it. Our government is no longer OUR government, but is a government of the traitors, by the traitors, for the traitors. We've strayed far from the path of our founding documents. We have nothing to fear except our own lack of resolve to take our nation back from the despotic leeches that have run it into the ditch.

I keep seeing people refer to elections as the vehicle to take our nation back. I really hope it's still possible. I have serious doubts.

God save America. The politicians sure as hell won't, and half the people of this nation only care about how much of the fleecing they can partake of. Damn them all to hell.

We were asleep when the socialists undermined and infiltrated our public school systems, colleges and universities. They finally took over the professions (AARP, AMA, ABA) and the entertainment (Hollywood) and mass media (CBS; NBC; ABC; NY Times; LA Times etc)

We have in Pogo’s words, “met the enemy and it is us.” The Supreme Court has declared term limits for Congress as unconstitutional. (See U.S. Term Limits v. Thornton 1995)

The remedy lies in a new energy and activism.

The Court sayid that term limits requires an Amendment. If that is the route then better we return the selection of Senators to the States. That change to popular election of Senators eliminated the States from political decision making in the nation.

Have you been paying attention to the elections, in say, Washington state the past few years? Do the antics of ACORN ring any bells? Obvious voter fraud has occured that has been ignored.
The 2010 census is going to include illegal aliens giving states with a high illegal alien count more representatives than they should have, and shorting other states with a lower count.
“Free elections”?

That's going to take an amendment too... Repealing the 17th... And good luck to that! After all, more and more we keep hearing about doing away with the electoral college, because it's not "democratic!" Damn! I would guess that less than 40% of the citizens of the USA know that the government was never supposed to be a democracy, for exactly the reasons we see today! only 1/2 of 1/3 of the government was supposed to be popularly elected, and as such, had the shortest term!

Those "old white guys" we hear denigrated over and over again may well be greatest political thinkers in history, and those that distort and demean their memory may be among the most corrupt and low-brow.

This was illustrated by a woman on YouTube who was decrying the cuts in the budgets for state parks in California. Who needs parks when bread costs a thousand dollars a loaf. By 2011 average Americans will be on their way to becoming millionaires. Well over the 250,000 dollar tax level.

Now now, you know that we can't elevate some people's thinking over others. How would that make the other, less able folks among us feel?

That is why we aren't keeping score in our intramural events anymore- we don't want to make the losers feel badly.
