Thanks for the ping. Jawa and a few other Islamist watch sites have dug up alot of this stuff since the shooting took place. I truly believe we are going to find that this Hanson guy was promoted by someone in Obama’s Administration (at the DOD) because his views about the war matched their own and they wanted him to stay in the military for that reason....among others. We should be looking very closely at that code pinko he sent to the DOD.

Over at Biased BBC they wonder whether this is the same Duane Reasoner quoted today by the New York Times:

Duane Reasoner Jr., an 18-year-old substitute teacher whose parents worked at Fort Hood, said Major Hassan was told he would be sent to Afghanistan on Nov. 28, and he did not like it.

“He said he should quit the Army,” Mr. Reasoner said. “In the Koran, you’re not supposed to have alliances with Jews or Christian or others, and if you are killed in the military fighting against Muslims, you will go to hell.”

Reasoner was also interviewed by Stars & Stripes:

Just last week, Hasan expressed views that Muslims shouldn’t serve in the military and fight other Muslims, according to Duane Reasoner Jr., a recent Muslim convert who had been having dinner regularly with Hasan.

******Hasan had taken 18-year-old Reasoner under his wing, mentoring him in his new faith. After evening prayers he would often buy a fish dinner for Reasoner and sometimes the iman at the Golden Corral, a chain buffet restaurant.****

Besides mentioning that he prayed for a wife, the conversation almost never strayed from religion, Reasoner said, describing Hasan as warm and caring.

Based on the email address in your link, his middle initial is S. ZabaSearch has a Duane S. Reasoner, born 1966, at two addresses near the Fort. Also Colorado Springs (Fort Carson?) and San Antonio.

So, it's quite possible the guy in the PDF is the father of the guy we're discussing.

I doubt if it’s patriotism. Muslims are only ‘patriotic’ to the ummah. The worldwide islamic community.

When that fragging happened in Iraq years ago, I was corresponding with a member of the armed forces. I asked him about muslims in uniform. How do you feel about it, can you trust them?

It’s not a matter of trust, he replied, we simply are not allowed to select on the basis of religion, but our men and women understnad the threat and look out for each other.

Apparently there are times when that ‘looking out for each other’ breaks down.

I think the reason they are trying to play this down is not simply to fool the public, but to assure that enlistement numbers are not affected. Would you enlist knowing what we know?
