Kim Munley a.k.a. "Mighty Mouse"

After regaining consciousness the first words of policewoman Kim Munley, who shot the Fort Hood gunman Major Nidal Malik Hasan, were "Did anybody die?"
Sergeant Munley, 34, was unconcious after being shot three times by Hasan and was rushed to hospital after she lost so much blood doctors thought she would die.
She was shot twice in the left thigh and once in the wrist but still managed to bring Malik down with four shots of her own.
Dr Kelly Matlock, who treated Munley in hospital, said: "She opened her eyes and said, 'Did anybody die?' That's what she said." Sgt Munley has now been told that Hasan killed 13 people and wounded 38 but her actions saved the lives of many others.
Hasan still had dozens of bullets left to fire from his two handguns, including a semi-automatic pistol.
Sgt Munley, a mother of two daughters, is just 5ft 3ins tall, but colleagues described her as a "fireball" and a "tough cookie." She is a member of Fort Hood's SWAT team.
When she saw Hasan firing she ran toward him and started shooting.
Witnesses said she fired twice and Hasan then turned and charged. Sgt Munley fired more rounds as she fell back, continuing to fire after being shot.
Chuck Medley, director of emergency services at Fort Hood, who has spoken to the officer, said she was in "good spirits." Sgt Munley's grandmother, Monirie Metz, said: "Kim doesn't want be called a hero. She's worried about everyone else right now." Sgt Munley is married to Matthew Munley, a special forces soldier, and has two daughters aged three and 13.
Her former police partner Shaun Appler in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, described how she once saved his life through her bravery.

Why is it that these stories seem to be reported in the traditional press in the UK, instead of here, or does it just seem so?
God Bless her and I hope she fully recovers from her wounds and is able to return to duty, if she wants.
May God continue to heal her and the other victims who were injured, and comfort the families of the murdered.
I learned from a recent posting that the guy whose arm is around her in that photo is the country singer Dirks Bentley.
She is a great woman and a hero. God Bless her.

What a beautiful woman, she might be what scares the traditional Muslims more then anything. A proud independent courageous woman who doesn’t kneel to anybody. I am glad she is the one who shot that Islamic nut job.

Just wondering if her actions occurred on a military base in California or New York, would she be charged with using excessive force and charged also as being a racist.
When I saw in a NYT’s article that she had a Twitter acct, I looked it up. She had 1200 followers when I first checked the account and then 1800 when I later checked that day. Today she has over 4,000. God bless her :-)

This is real, you are not imagining it. Most of the U.S. media sources have been infiltrated and turned into a tool of the state.
From what I read, one of the perp's bullets hit an artery in one of her legs, and she lost half of her blood. God grant her a speedy recovery.
Another thread from the "Daily Mail" had her "directing traffic on the base". I rather think the SWAT assignment is more accurate. Hat's off to a genuine heroine and one gutsy lady.

It's not that large a police department, even when you add in the MPs who work with the civilian police. But even in fairly large departments, the SWAT team members are usually also patrol officers.
She was directing traffic for a college graduation ceremony being held in the theater a few 10s of yards away from the site of the shooting. And it's a good think she and her partner were doing that, otherwise they would have been in such close proximity, and more would have died. Even then, it was minutes, not seconds, and as they say, when seconds count the police are only minutes away. Usually quite a few more minutes than in this instance.

The SWAT officers in my county are from different departments as well. But they train together on a regular basis and I would not want any of them busting down my door.
I don’t know about her area, but where I live they pick up good money directing traffic at special events (usually paid by the sponsor).. A good thing, their pay scale stinks.

Yes, of course. She still has both legs, Thank God, so she will probably walk (and run) again, but it will take time.
