ISLAMABAD - Abdullah Abdullah, who this week withdrew from the presidential election runoff in Afghanistan, thereby handing victory to the incumbent, Hamid Karzai, did so under pressure from the United States, Asia Times Online has learned.

In exchange for the pullout of the non-Pashtun Abdullah, Pakistan's military has agreed to actively mediate between Washington and the Taliban over a reconciliation plan that will allow the US to exit from Afghanistan, as it is doing in Iraq, with a semblance of success.

A senior Pakistani diplomat involved in backchannel negotiations on Pakistan, Afghanistan and US relations told Asia Times Online
on the condition of anonymity that the deal over Abdullah, whom Islamabad considers to be pro-India, was made during the three-day visit to Pakistan last week of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

We'll look for any excuse to quit or leave, as we pack up we'll declare victory, pat each other on the back politically, pin awards on our chest, and then watch as all implodes and fails when we leave.

It's the PC way of quitting.

They need to be baby sat by their muslim brotherhood, the UN. Not America. These fools will continue to sell their drugs and export terrorism from the profits. It will take them a couple of generations to figure out what is going on. Kinda like Africa. And then they will STILL be backwards! But, farther ahead than they are today.

So now we are to just keep sinking a lot of money into the Afghanistan and Pakistan governments to do with it as they please. This is a worse deal then Vietnam. The tax payer keeps the elite in those two countries rich and fat, as al Qaeda are given areas to set up camps so that they can train goons to blow up our cities, drive more planes into our buildings etc..
Oh OK. Zero is at the helm...
