FYI I made an equipment purchase this weekend. I need a rest at the indoor range because it's standing only. I couldn't sight in my AR red dot there properly so I got an idea. I was wondering if my old camera tripod would work but short of some kind of duct tape rig I couldn't think of a solution how to use it. Then I started googling and darned if I didn't find this. I'll let you know how it works.

Yep, that's it! Most walking/shooting sticks use the same threads as photo equip. 1/4” x 20. I have a Pole Cat monopod that I use as a walking stick and also have a bipod that works better, especially when I can lean back on a tree.

Oh good, 1/4 by 20 is standard? That’s what the rest comes with. I wasn’t sure because my tripod has a built in set screw but I didn’t know what the thread size was, wasn’t sure if I was going to have to drill it out or not.
