Palestinians consider abandoning peace process
The Telegraph ^ | 11/8/2009 | Adrian Blomfield in Jerusalem

The Palestinian leadership outlined a fresh strategy of defiance towards the United States yesterday by announcing its intention to consider a formal abandonment of the Middle East peace process.

Just days after Mahmoud Abbas, the moderate president of the Palestinian Authority, announced his intention to quit, his colleagues gave warning that they were prepared to deploy the much feared "nuclear option".

Officials in the West Bank told The Daily Telegraph that the most important Palestinian decision making bodies were preparing to meet to discuss a proposal to dissolve the Palestinian Authority itself.

Such a move would signal the end of limited self-government in the Palestinian territories set out by the now defunct Oslo Accords of 1993 and as such end all hopes of a resolution to the conflict with Israel.

Even so, some Palestinian officials signalled they were prepared to discuss the long-feared "nuclear option" in response to what they described as Israeli intransigence and American betrayal.

But at least one Palestinian official suggested that the debate was mainly designed to escalate pressure on the United States after Hillary Clinton, the secretary of state, appeared to signal growing support for Israel within the Obama administration.

"We in the movement back dissolving the PA," said Tayseer Nasrallah, a member of the Palestinian National Council, the legislative body of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO).

"We would use this as pressure on the United States to commit itself to the peace process." Mr Abbas, a moderate voice of conciliation and America's closest Palestinian ally, announced his decision not to stand in elections scheduled for January shortly after Mrs Clinton praised an Israeli offer to limit the construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

Her comments appeared to represent a shift in policy by the Obama administration, which had earlier demanded a

I didn’t know they were ever part of the peace process. As a matter of fact, they are at the center of the problem, not the solution.

This is truly unbeleivable. What a amateur.

We have a child in the Whitehouse. The child has no clue what he is doing (or for that matter wants).

“Palestinians consider abandoning peace process.”

What a joke. I’m pretty sure the Palestinians abandoned the peace process back in 1974.

Gee, this really worries me. I mean, what with all the peaceful gestures they’ve made over the years, the concessions, the pleadings for peace...what will happen now? Sheeeeesh.

Members of the religion of peace abandoning the peace process? And we know how peaceful those Paleostinians are don’t we? Wasn’t our homegrown terrorist pig, Major Hussein, I mean Hassan, the spawn of a Paleostain immigrant family?

And now our POtuS President Hussein Osama has talked about his experience reciting the Muslim call to prayer as one of the most beautiful sounds he has ever heard, has imported some Gazans (American taxpayers paid for these alien eggs to be sent over from Gaza) to join some of his Paleo brothers and sisters in the struggle against the infidels.

There is no "peace process." There is only our tax dollars being continually spent to give the appearance that there is such a thing. This is a dare. Keep paying us off and you will continue to get photo ops.

In practical terms this doesn’t mean squat, as the palis have never wanted a real peace process with Israel to begin with.

Correct. It is funny that the Palestinians want to give up opn peace, while the Iranians decided not to ship their Nuclear material.

They sucked the Bam bam boy in and he fell for it.

We have a President that doesnt know squat.

Major Hussein, I mean Hassan, the spawn of a Paleostain immigrant family?

A little irony here: Arabic speakers cannot pronounce the sound "P". Instead, it is a "PH" or "F" sound. "Palestinians" call themselves "Philistini". So it has come full circle: The Romans named it "Palestine" because of the Philistines, and now the "Palestinians" call themselve Philistines. How fitting.

There are NO Palestinian "moderates". The dissolution of the PA would free Israel from fulfilling its Oslo and Roadmap commitments. A unilateral Palestinian move will be matched by one from Israel.

"We have a President that doesnt know squat."

He knows. He has the CIA (remember - he wasted no time calling CIA guilty of torture, his Atty. Gen. holds prosecution over all of them, conspiracy) and probably all Israeli intelligence up until he was elected. Probably none after.

Barack bin Hussein al-Obama Kenyata has given the Iranians plenty of time to work on the bomb. His "diplomats" have given Syria plenty of time to arm Hezbollah with rockets that can reach Tel Aviv.

Look at what the articles say about the Palestinians, not about The Kenyan.

The Administration and any PR they let out is nefarious.
