We're Governed by Callous Children
Wall Street Journal ^ | 05 November 2009 | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 11/08/2009 7:48:24 PM PST by Lorianne

Americans feel increasingly disheartened, and our leaders don't even notice.___ The new economic statistics put growth at a healthy 3.5% for the third quarter. We should be dancing in the streets. No one is, because no one has any faith in these numbers. Waves of money are sloshing through the system, creating a false rising tide that lifts all boats for the moment. The tide will recede. The boats aren't rising, they're bobbing, and will settle. No one believes the bad time is over. No one thinks we're entering a new age of abundance. No one thinks it will ever be the same as before 2008. Economists, statisticians, forecasters and market specialists will argue about what the new numbers mean, but no one believes them, either. Among the things swept away in 2008 was public confidence in the experts. The experts missed the crash. They'll miss the meaning of this moment, too.

The biggest threat to America right now is not government spending, huge deficits, foreign ownership of our debt, world terrorism, two wars, potential epidemics or nuts with nukes. The biggest long-term threat is that people are becoming and have become disheartened, that this condition is reaching critical mass, and that it afflicts most broadly and deeply those members of the American leadership class who are not in Washington, most especially those in business.

Get a clue, Peggy. There are too many people out there who, like you, reduce everything down to economic or political denominators.

The real problem is there is an increasing effort to remove any semblance of Christianity from society.

Just take the pain medicine Peggy, and die.

I thought Peggy and her twin Kathleen what’s-her-face were Obama Brown-Nosers? Did they run out of blow? That’s ok. I’m sure it’s covered under our new Democrat Communist Health Care.

And who did her best to see that they were elected, Peggy? America isn’t “disheartened,” not my part of it, anyway. It’s angry.

Noonan, like many other commentators, are missing the point. The self-inflicted destruction wrought on our nation is not being done by incompetence or ignorance. It is deliberate. These people are communists. They’ve filled the social science chairs at our universities for two generations, and now their brain-numbed “useful idiots” bave reached a critical number where their policies no longer are effectively challenged.

The deliberate goal is the destruction of the independent, wealthy American middle class. This is the first thing EVERY single communist regime does when it takes power. They HATE the Kulaks and the Kulaks are us. Our leftists lost power in Congress in 1994. It only made them more stridently communist, and now having re-taken power, they are going to make damned sure they never lose it again.

That’s what’s happening and putting this in any other terms misses the whole point.

Peggy: Shut up and retire. You forfeited all credibility when you spent six months ignoring the most salient fact about Soetoro—that he is a baby-murderer—and wrote column after column extolling his many virtues.

No baby-killer should be in any public office.

If voters refused to put any baby-killer in any office, the Constitution would not be moribund, the budget would be under control, and the government would not be fascist.

Shut up, Peggy Noonan, you have nothing to say that I want to read or hear. You wrote a beautiful bio of JPII. You knew him, you were in the same room with a saint. And you supported BO for Pres, the most vicious abortion supporter and advocate alive.

You are dead to me.

I used to think she was smart. Not anymore. I am still not sure who changed more, she or me.

I think she did. Age does something to people. I see it in my 79-year-old mother, who was conservative her whole life but now thinks all wars are bad and the government should provide healthcare to anyone who needs it. I wonder if aging people just grow weary of the battle that life often is, and long for utopia on earth as they near the hereafter. Regardless of the reason or source, it is a dangerous naivete and we must ignore all such people, even if they used to make sense.

Peggy Noonan. She owes her career to Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, she's been sh*tting in the face of Conservatism ever since. She is an idiot. Useful, yes! So.... after displaying my obligatory intellectual disgust and significant dislike of this political class whore, I must say... her conclusion this time is correct. We are governed by a bunch of rich kids who have no idea how fast they are driving or how hard the tree trunk they are about to encounter.

I believe it is that they are the generation that worked 30 years at the same place and paid in to the system. My 87 year old mother insists she paid into her retirement fund. I tell her “you have been retired 22 years now and have drawn more than you ever put in”. It does not seem to faze that generation, the Ponzi scheme that our giverment (yes, I said gIverment) set in place to buy Democrat votes. I notice that not one single senior is taking to the streets like the Grey Panthers did while Mrs. Pelosi just passed a plan that takes $500 BILLION from Medicare. Where are they now??? They screamed that Republicans wanted seniors to eat dog food when any attempt at Social Security reform is mentioned, but a deliberate effort to ration care and outright KILL seniors gets a pass. Invest in funeral homes - it will be the only industry making money with Obama/Pelosicare.

Peggy is the typical RINO that made her bed with the liberal MSNBC. Ronald Reagan would spit on Peggy if he were alive. Her article is completely wrong. Conservatives do know how to get America out of the mess in which she finds herself. The answers are easy, but they will be painful to implement. The government is going to have to deal with the reality that it cannot create a Utopian society in which every want by every person can be fulfilled. It can only create a living hell for all the people by doing so.
