Mom of soldier says Fort Hood doctor Nidal Malik Hasan scared her
NY Daily News ^ | 11/9/2009 | Joanna Molloy

He was supposed to help her hero son - but all she saw in Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's eyes was evil.

The mom of a soldier who received psychiatric treatment from the accused Fort Hood gunman said she was frightened of the psychiatrist from the very beginning of her son's stay at Walter Reed Medical Center.

"I looked into his eyes, and he scared me," Cindy Gagnier told the Daily News. "He made some comments to me that made me feel very uncomfortable, and I don't become uncomfortable very easily."

The New York-born mother of four was at her son Christian's bedside constantly after he suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2005 while fighting in Iraq.

The young veteran, who also is dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder, spent 18 months at Walter Reed, where Hasan spent six years on staff.

"[Hasan] said to me one time, 'They all need to come home,'" Gagnier recalled. "He said all the boys should come home.

"He was very blunt. He was very controlled," she said.

Hasan started his medical internship at Walter Reed in 2003 at the age of 33.

Gagnier virtually lived at Walter Reed during a difficult stretch of her oldest son's care.

During that time, she recalls Hasan as "not very empathetic."

"[Hasan] said it was all right for my son to leave the hospital, but it wasn't," Gagnier said.

She was so focused on getting Christian better that Gagnier, now a tireless advocate for other disabled Iraq and Afghan war veterans, did not make a formal complaint.

"Other doctors came to my side and helped me," Gagnier attests. "I was very watchful over my son."

Sorry Mom, this isn't the narrative. We've been told he was a perfectly competent doctor who simply snapped under stress of hearing all the war horror stories.

Just like the 911 terrorists, everyone including some in the
FBI knew what Hasan was planning.
The FBI immediately declared this was not terrorism
even before the victims’ bodies had hit the ground
(because they had prior knowledge from ignored complaints).

The Army says this is not terrorism ... because they
had prior knowledge in conversations and even medical lectures
where beheading was taught
(but this promotes diversity so is encouraged).

The White House says this is not terrorism ... because they
knew in advance including at a homeland security conference
(but “guilty” American soldiers deserve it).

The other Islamic plants in the DOD say this is not terrorism ... because they
had all shared good times planning atrocities with him at the local strip club
and even the historic 911- planning mosque where the 911 Atrocities were planned.

Insist that America is told why political corrected killed our troops.

Fort Hood had an extremely high suicide rate.

I would be interested in knowing how many soldiers this individual counseled.

According to the F.B.I.and the S.P.L.C., it is never terrorism unless they can connect it to someone who is White, supposedly against abortion, supposedly a Christian, and supposedly a milita member. Then it is terrorism.

Thanks for the links. Reading over the weekend it’s hard to conclude anything other than the Army knew this guy serious trouble- he gave clues everywhere.

This is not the Army we knew just a few short years ago. They are knowingly harboring the enemy.

Twilight Zone.

#######

We shouldn’t have to worry about our sons and daughters being treated for psychiatric and emotional injuries by jihadists in our own home.

The Washington Post went ballistic about physical conditions at an old motel being used as a barracks for some Walter Reed Patients. Remember the peeling paint and mold in a bathroom that was used to smear the Army’s “care of our troops”?

For this fanatic to have professional access to wounded troops for six years there is magnitudes of times worse. It makes me crazy to think what he probably did to hundreds of fragile minds.

It’s time to start to blame Obama on this one. It’s his pick who heads up the CIA.

If this had happened under Bush, the press would be all over this.

I can't think of anything more sadistic than to let an Islamic extremist loose to counsel injured troops returning from a war against Islamic extremists.

Is this lack of communication between the CIA and military an OBama policy....if so this is Obama’s fault.

From the article:

She was so focused on getting Christian better that Gagnier, now a tireless advocate for other disabled Iraq and Afghan war veterans, did not make a formal complaint.

She had other things taking her time and attention, it seems. In hindsight, she probably wishes she had filed a complaint; but as the article said, she was focused on her son's healing.

Expecting a mother with a newly brain injured son to do what the US Army brass had themselves been neglecting to do for several years (since 9/11/2001-ish) is a little hard on the lady, IMO.

I suspect the soldier’ first name, Christian, did not please Dr. Hasan. I wonder if he “treated” any Jewish soldiers, and what their experiences were.

I do not.

While some might murder in the open like Hasanm, the ones that can kill by stealth are the most dangerous.

The bigger enemies are those that created the atmosphere of fear for careers if anyone told the truth about this guy (or any other “protected” minority).

PC is capitulation to LIES. Plain and simple. PC doesn’t let the truth be told and punishes the truth teller.

Fear of the PC police is probably the number one reason.
Our society hammers into us that we are not to look askance at someone of another culture, and that questioning them is akin to racism.

Also, even if she DID file a complaint, would the “brass” have the “brass” to actually DO anything about it due to the reason given above?

I wrote to Senator Snowe following the USS Cole incident, another PC catastrophe. I had to make follow-up calls to elicit ant response at all, and when I got a response, she passed the buck to the Navy, basically saying she didn't have any problem with the decisions that facilitated the attack.

Based in part on that experience, I quit wasting my time communicating with Congress. The only Senator that I would unequivocally support is DeMint. I would reluctantly support Coburn and Sessions. The rest of them don't merit so much as a "how do you do" as far as I'm concerned.

Gagnier was in New York working with the Bob Woodruff Foundation last week when news broke Thursday that Hasan allegedly shot 13 people to death and wounded dozens more.

She doesn’t buy reports that Hasan simply woke up one day and snapped.

“I don’t think he flipped out,” she said. “I think what he did was an act of terrorism.”

I have said before the families are angry. Families of the murdered, the wounded and patients. Hasan has affected too many lives for this to be swept under the PTSD rug.

re:
...“[Hasan] said to me one time, ‘They all need to come home,’” Gagnier recalled. “He said all the boys should come home.

I guaran-damn-tee that statement will be used as proof to back us the false assertion Hasan was suffering emotionally.

When I spoke to the young Army widow of one of our troops killed in Afghanistan and told her, tears in our eyes, "This should not happen. We should not have our best dying over there. I promise you my son (her student) is aware of the sacrifice and as long as I have breath in my body, his death will not be in vain" she knew what I meant. We need to defeat the evil.

That is not what Hasan meant.

We cannot allow the ultimate sacrifice made by our brave men and women be corrupted by the left trying to even hint Hasan was affected by those sacrifices.

It is wrong

The powers that be at Walter Reed ordered that no one (personnel, past or present) talk about anything that happened while Hassan was there. I hope more patients and familes speak out.

The comments that follow the article are a perfect example of “slay the messenger.” I am amazed that people find such fault with a mother who is looking back on an event she “personally” witnessed with such contempt. (HIs own superiors let him continue and they knew he was making disparaging remarks about this country.)
Her job was to take care of her son and from the sounds of the article she was passionate about that and other wounded soldiers.
